Greg and others, I checked those data bases you mentioned that are on Rootsweb World Connect and I can only say be careful about what you take from them. For one thing he has Sarah as Sarah Collier and although a long time ago it was thought she might be a Collier, I think we've pretty well discounted that. The name came from a deed to Benjamin and the wording indicated perhaps a famiy connection. However, that same man (Collier) sold a lot of land to several different people in that area and all the deeds were worded the same. It sounded like he was leaving it open in case he wanted to return to MD. Then he has two of Barton's sons as sons of Reason, Nathan and Asa, and he doesn't show all the kids Reason had, which was a goodly number. He shows the marriage of Reason to the second wife, but shows the five kids that he has as hers. They aren't. They belong to the first (unknown) wife. There may be more that I haven't found yet. I just want to caution the use of that info. I haven't checked the other three data bases. Lou Ann

I am trying to find a link between the Hurley Lovelaces and the Tolpuddle Loveless's I did have correspondence from David Wilson (2004) but do not have his current email address. Also I did hear from Wendy Loveless. Please if you could respond I have some more information re 1650's. Lesley Wickham
Lesley, I'm still on this list but rarely have the opportunity to post because family circumstances have compelled my attention elsewhere. I have wondered if there might be a connection between the Hurley and Dorset Lovelxxxs simply on grounds of geographical proximity. If you have some new info that might point to a connection, I'd be delighted to hear it -- and I bet others on this list would as well. The email address that works for me most often is dcw1000(at)verizon(dot)net. Good morning, cuzzins Got a little time this morning, so I thought I'd pop in with a little hello. It's a (relatively) warm, foggy morning here in the soggy SC Lowcountry. We had buckets of rain yesterday, all day, which we really needed. Had we been in other parts of the east, we would've gotten bucketfuls of snow... but it doesn't do that in Charleston very often. I sometimes miss snow, but for a long time now I've been living where snow is very rare. As most of you know, I"m a big fan of NC State University basketball. Well, my pore ol' Wolfpack just can't seem to get it right. Been going on for the past 25 seasons now. The team is being coached by Sidney Lowe, who was the point guard on the 1983 National Championship team. He has a great class of freshmen who came in this season, and they have a habit of building big leads, only to squander them. Last night was a case in point. They were playing Clemson at Clemson, which is a very difficult place for a visiting team. They built a 19 point lead in the first half.... 19 points! and ended up losing by 10. A very frustrating situation, and I'm sure Coach Lowe would be pulling his hair out if he had any to pull. Sigh....looks like I'll have to take my brother-in-law's advice...and say "Wait til next year". Been doing that since 1983! Still trying to re-wet my feet in genealogy. Been reading in the National Genealogical Society Quarterly, which is a really good publication for teaching research techniques. Trouble is, it isn't very exciting, so it's pretty difficult reading, especially when it doesn't involve any of the folks you're actually researching. But I'm trying to build myself up into taking the NGS at-home study course. I think I'll get into that following the conference in May in Charleston. I'm hoping that gets me so jazzed that I'll be ready to devote a lot of time into research again. Well, that's about it from here. Family is doing OK... everyone is just following their own course, but they're alive and healthy, so we're thankful for that. Before I sign out, I'd like to get back into the "happy birthday" thing from the MyFamily site. They send out a "what's happening" post every so often, and today's post mentions birthdays on Groundhog Day for Jerry Melton and Mary Morgan. So Happy Birthday to you cuzzins! Y'all have a good one! Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg
Hey, Merilee... For beginners, go to Rootsweb's WorldConnect pages at wc.rootsweb.com, click on advanced search, and enter Richard in given name, Lovelace in surname, and Reason in father's name. You'll get 4 hits, the last two of which list children. You may be able to contact the submitters for further information. Doing the same search on Ancestry.com returns 28 different hits in member family trees. If I search Ancestry for Richard Lovelace with a birthdate of 1790 plus or minus 5 years, gives way too many hits in different types of records for me to easily sift through. There are also records at www.familysearch.org, but I haven't gone through them all to see if they are the right Richard. I did find a marriage record for his marriage to Sally Hall. These are just a few of the available online resources. I assume you've been through the list archives? How about the documents library on our website? Greg and all, Sons Zadock, Reason and Benjamin went to KY. Benjamin died there at a young age and I think that some of kids went to live with his brothers. His would be the 1817 record. There are three kids in Zadock's household in 1820 that I can't name and I'm thinking that possibly those are his brother Benjamin's kids. Zadock and Reason seem to have gone to KY shortly after 1793 and the younger brother Benjamin followed later. He was still in MD selling land in 1800, but he's in KY by the 1810 census. Old Benjamin apparently died in MD, although, we haven't found proof of his death. It appears that the sons probably left MD shortly after their father died. Elkanah is the son we can't find after 1793 in Montogomery Co MD. There was also a son Nathan who must have died young or left MD early on. No record has been found of him. Then, there's our old Barton. We know that on his way probably to NC, he ended up in a heap of trouble in VA.....and the rest is history as they say. Lou Ann

Mornin' Cuzzies, A little fresca around the edges...low 50's. Sun is out....pretty. I really bombed over the game yesterday.....Da Kid told me that, and maybe I assumed more than he was telling me. Anyhoo, really look forward to the shoot outs today. Da Kid is running try outs for the Little League teams that playout of the fields where he teaches. Everyone gets in a completelather over these things.....coaches jockeying for the best players.Kids and parents jockeying for the best teams to get on. I'llswear.....as an ole coach I view these thingees as having gottencompletely out of hand. The children no longer learn any of their family's value systemsor about the world from their parents at the dinner table. Thereis no more dinner table.....everyone is out playing sports at that hour. And, the odds are.....one in a gazillion will make it. So, I now fail tosee what benefits are coming from playing the game. It's all beengrossly overdone. However, as bad as that all is, it beats the insane texting that'sconsumed the world! Have a good one! Enjoy the games! Buckette
