Bob, I was able to do a little more searching on this, but haven't had time to post. And I don't have time to put up the details, but here's the meat. Mable Smart Goddard was first married to a Henry Loveless from England, and she had children by him. One of those children was George. Henry came to the US in the late 1880s, and Mable came in 1907 (I think... pre-1910). They are in the 1910 census in Newcastle, DE. No idea what happened to Henry, but in 1920, Mable is with Thomas Neal. I'll try to post the details sometime tomorrow.... Could this be a descendent of Evan Jackson Loveless who moved to Cleburne Co AL from GA? Evan Jackson is son of James (the orphan), who is son of Samuel and Annie Byers Loveless, and grandson of old Barton from MD. Anyone know? Lou Ann
Hi Greg: Just found a connection on this one. George was born in Newcastle, Delaware and did die in Arizona. Wife's name IS Frances Riddle Loveless. George is NOT the son of David Hurley Lovelace. Cuzzins, Did some searching this morning, and found a little more info. The obituary that Bob sent mentions Frances R. Loveless (see below). From the obit, we know that the parents of Thomas and his sister Frances were William Arthur and Frances B. Riddle. I found their household in the 1930 census of Raleigh, Wake Co., NC. All the siblings listed in the obituary are included with the parents William A. and Fannie Riddle. Frances is the youngest child at age 1 yr 11 mo. The enumeration date was April 9, 1930, so it can be assumed that Frances was born c. May 1928. So I searched for Frances Riddle based on the above information, and came up mostly empty except for a poignant death certificate for "Baby Girl Loveless" in Wake Co., NC. This unnamed girl was b. 11/23/1947 to George Eugene Loveless and Frances Riddle. George was born in Wilmington, DE, and Frances was born in Raleigh, NC, and they lived at 917 Wilmington Terrace, Raleigh. This baby girl died on 11/23/1947 at 3:40 am, I'm assuming at or following birth. The cause of death was atelactasis (collapsed lungs), onset at birth. Contributing factor to the death was "monstrosity of infant w/ malformation of entire body", onset "from conception". The baby was buried the following day in Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh, with Yelverton Funeral Home handling the burial. I tried searching for a George Eugene Loveless or a George Loveless b. in Delaware, but was unsuccessful in finding an further information, except for a listing in our list archives showing a listing from an index to the Maryland National Guard service records: "LOVELESS GEORGE EUGENE. Bates No.: 61994. Box No.: 276. MSA S1499-43958 Location: 0/7/1/46" The timeline fits, as does the geography, but not sure this is the same man. Anybody got anything else on George Eugene Loveless of Delaware? Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg At 05:39 PM 2/1/2011, you wrote: >Published in The News & Observer on February 1, 2011 > >Thomas P. Tulsa is in the grips of 12+ inches of snow. Although the northerners (and I am originally one) consider that a drop in the bucket, so to speak, it is a nightmare here. Dear Cousins, We in the Capital District of New York are expecting your storm to arrive shortly. For the first time in many, many years, all of the local colleges have closed or at the very least cancelled classes. My sons employer closed their business for the first time EVER. People are finally getting smart and realizing that travel and clean up are both better served when people stay off the roads. Hope you all stay safe and if you have to be out on the roads, make sure you have food, water, something warm to put on and put new batteries in that flashlight in the car. Our trees are covered with ice. It is sleeting now and they are predicting heavy snowfalls as well. The power company has brought in contract workers and staged them throughout the area. The National Guard has been activated in both Missouri and Illinois. It is a mega storm. We're hoping the sleet continues. The snow will weigh down the tree limbs and power lines. From the reporting on the local channels (St. Louis, MO), most businesses have advised employees to stay home. The airport is open. However, all flights have been cancelled.
