Jeff Loveless from New Mexico writes: >Hold the presses, for once my Texas cuz and I agree. Cuzzies, don't fall in this trap. My cuzzies are slim to none. Jeff'sgrandfather and my grandfather were cuzzies and bestest friends. How many wonderful stories we could share! But, that isn't the way it is....two entitled, haughty biddies were marriedto these men and they one-upped each other their whole lives. Onewas the daughter of a judge and the other was from landed gentry fromTN. Rather than being kind and gentle to those from lesser backgrounds,w/ less beauty and talent, they both chose to be overbearing and rudeand almighty. And, those traits have followed the offspring so that thepresent generation can't enjoy one another. Don't let that happen in your families.....it's a mighty silly game! Buckette
Mornin' Cuzzies, Super Bowl didn't disappoint....it was a major shootout! The halftime showbombed! Where did their fans get their musical taste? In their moufs? That wasn't music....but, an endurance contest. Thought the ads acrossthe board were so-so, but whada I know? I liked the Budwiser dawgie ad,but then I would. I was looking forward to a grandiose Clydesdale horsead....which they didn't have. Clydesdales as bit parts in a western scene?....I don't think so. Also, think the millions of watchers took a hit last night....absolutely no one on the streets this morning. Two or three days more of bad weather, and then springtime in Texas!I hope, I hope! Hold the presses, for once my Texas cuz and I agree. The game was good and so were the commercials but I think the half timeshow was a perfect flop combined with the national anthem fiasco. Lovelace whom she married on June >14, 1941 in Poughkeepsie. <<snip>> A search on Ancestry.com for Gleason Lovelace returns a 1930 census record from Poughkeepsie, a listing in the Social Security Death Index, (SSDI) an enlistment record for WWII, an entry in the US Public Records Index, and one family tree which includes him. The SSDI shows Gleason F. Lovelace, b. 9 Feb 1920, d. Apr 1988, last residence in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co., NY. The WWII enlistment record shows Gleason F. Lovelace b. 1920 in NY. Enlisted 8 Jan 1942 at Camp Upton Yaphank, NY, residence in Dutchess Co., NY. He had 2 yrs of college and was single with no dependents, 70" tall, 201 lbs. Enlisted as a private. The US Public Records Index gives his birthdate as 9 Feb 1920 and his address as 89 N. Clinton St., Poughkeepsie, NY. These are clearly the same person. The 1930 census lists Gleason as a son in the household of Edgar J. and Edith O. Lovelace, District 54, 89 N. Clinton St., Poughkeepsie, Dutchess Co., NY. Edgar was age 36, Edith was 34. Edgar first married at 23, Edith at 21 (married c1917). Gleason is age 10 (b. c1920), and he has a younger sister Vivian E., age 5 (b. c1925). Also included in the household is Katie E. Fowler (Indexed as Forster), age 69, listed as mother-in-law. Listed as a separate family but in the same dwelling, are Frank B. and Minnie Lovelace. Frank is 64 and his wife is 63; They were first married when he was 23 and she was 22 (c1889). Frank and Minnie do not have occupations listed. Gleason is listed as a florist. The family tree for Gleason is owned by jjldee64, no contact information available. It lists Gleason as Gleason Francis Lovelace, b. 9 Feb 1920 in Poughkeepsie, NY, son of Edgar J. Lovelace and Edith Fowler, married to a living Arkins with one living child. This is definitley our guy... The family tree further shows Edgar J. Lovelace (1893-1967) as the son of Frank Lovelace and Minnie Reylea. It further shows Frank as the son of Rubson Lovelace (b. 1827) and Clamissa (b. 1833). The 1920 census of Poughkeepsie shows Edgar and Edith living with Frank and Minnie in the house at 89 N. Clinton St. Edith's mother is living with them at this time. The 1910 census shows the family in #83 North Clinton St., Poughkeepsie. Edgar is 16 and single. With them is Minnie's sister Angie Vincent. Frank's occupation is listed as "retired" at age 44. Living on the same dwelling was the family of John Gemmel, a first generation German-American b. NY. Probably boarders? In 1900, Edgar is with Frank and wife Mary, who have been married 11 years. Mary must be Minnie. B. Jun 1866, Edgar is 6, b. July 1893. They are in the house at 83 N. Clinton St., with the family of Andrew Wynkoop. Frank is listed as a grocer. I had a problem trying to find this Rubson Lovelace listed in the family tree as the father of Frank. I looked at the 1870 census listing, and the handwriting of the census taker (or copier) is atrocious. So I did some checking, and I found an 1860 census listing for a Nelson Lovlace which lists two children in common with the listing that was interpreted in 1870 as "Rubson", plus it has the wife listes as Clarissa, which fits. Nelson is listed in Pleasant Valley PO, Washington, Dutchess Co., NY. I think this is the next link in the chain. Only time for one more quick search... A search for Nelson returns a family tree which shows him as the son of Peleg and Phoebe Lipps. Can anybody confirm/refute this? I have a doc's appt, and need to run. I'll check in later or tomorrow... Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg
Hi, cuzzins! Thought I'd hop in and say a word or two so Buckette wouldn't have to get out from under the warm covers too early... I hear that Houston is getting snow this morning on top of what they got yesterday. So Suze, you should probably should just stay in bed all day :-) Things are about the same here today. Rainy, chilly (low 40s) morning in the SC Lowcountry. Dogs were very unhappy to be shut out in the utility room this morning... they wanted to stay on the bed all day and sleep! Just went through my schedule for this May's meeting of the National Genealogical Society meeting here in Charleston. Looks like some good sessions, and I hope to learn a lot. Sure wish some of you could make it to Charleston for the meeting. If you decide you want to try to come, please let me know. Guess that's about it for this morning. If I have time today, I might delve into one more obituary and try to find the connection. But for now, time for a cuppa coffee [_]8 and some work. Y'all have a gfreat day! Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg

Okay. This is actually Cortez Pate who is the son of Evan Jackson , who is the son of James the orphan, brother to my GA Barton and grandson of old Barton from MD. I'm saying this from memory, but I have a message somewhere from someone who wrote me when I was researching the Teagues....these Teagues are related to Teagues here in Noble, OK....and I was given the informatio that Cora's parents were really mean to her and treated her like a slave. Terry, did you tell me that? I'll have to find the message. Usually I post things like that in my data base, but I don't have that one posted yet. Bottom line Eldridge Lee is one of ours: Benjamin b 1727 to Barton to Samuel to James (the orphan) to Evan Jackson to Cortez Pate to Elbert to Eldridge Lee. I missed Elbert as a child of Cortez. I had Pearl as the oldest one. Lou Ann In a message dated 2/3/11 4:02:33 PM, greglovelace@comcast.net writes: > > > There is also a listing in the 1910 census of Arbacoochee. This > lists Cora I. OK, Let me take a stab at this one. 1. Google search for "Eldridge Lee Loveless" turns up the obituary for a Ruby Jewell Loveless of Heflin, AL: Source: Miscellaneous Calhoun County, Alabama Obituaries, 08-08-1998 http://www.obitcentral.com/obitsearch/obits/al/al-calhoun1.htm "Loveless HEFLIN Services for Ruby Jewell Loveless, 84, of Helfin will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pinetucky Baptist Church with Revs. Stanley Smith and Van Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Pinetucky Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Loveless died Sunday at Regional Medical Center. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Murray of Marsfield, Texas, and Jennette Price of Heflin; three sons, Charles Loveless of Heflin, Eldridge Lee Loveless of Ranburne and Roger Wayne Loveless of Naggs Head, N.C.; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Mrs. Loveless was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County and a member of Pinetucky Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Lee Loveless." All the children listed as survivors match the siblings listed in the obit posted by Bob yesterday. Her obit lists her husband as Elbert Lee Loveless and says she lived in Cleburne Co., AL. The date of the obit and her age at death give her a prospective birthdate of 1914. Assuming her husband is a similar age, they are both probably listed in the 1930 census, and there's a possibility they were married by that time (she would be 16...). An Ancestry.com search for "Elbert Loveless" living in Alabama turns up one hit, that a listing in the 1920 census of Arbacoochee, Cleburne Co., AL. Mornin' Cuzzies, Well, if Houston is freaked out over the weather, everyone else is wellbeyond that. The little hot house plants are screaming down here......we are supposed to get inches of snow in the next 24 hrs.....unheard of,and you don't tell us we can't drive. However, that's being done andschools are closing. It doesn't rest w/ our natures well.....to say theleast. And, none of us can keep our houses warm because they aren't builtfor warmth. I'm layered with clothes as is everyone I talk to.....a coupleof sweat shirts and sweaters. I personally have flannel lined jeans whichare yummy. And, you've heard Texas has rolling black outs.....neighborhoods aredesignated to have their electricity go dead for 25 or so minutes all overthe state in order to keep it all going. Ah! We spend so much money forthe Egypt military, but don't take care of ourselves.....not right bright! Stay snug and warm.....and have a good one anyway! Buckette
