All, Once again I want to thank Bob Stewart for continuing to post these obituaries (and Wanda Rabb, also). These obits allow us to continue to leaf out the most recent branches of our various trees, and I hope you are all making use of them in your own research. I'd like some input from others, though. In the line below for Barbara Ann Lovelace Holland, Bob shows Green Lovelace as the son of Nathan. I think we reached this conclusion many years ago as a result of DNA analysis for Bly Lovelace, Molinda Lovelace Karpman's brother. I would like someone to revisit that conclusion. My reasoning is this.... - Green Lovelace married Rebecca Moore 12 Sep 1830. - Green and Rebecca had three children before she died. Her father's will, written on 25 January 1867 mentions "Rebecca Lovelaces three William Elizabeth & Bejamine [sic]" and leaves them a child's part. This indicates that Rebecca was dead. - Green Lovelace married Martha Nichols on 14 September 1840. Or at least a marriage bond was posted for that marriage. - In the 1850 census, I cannot find Green and Martha in Rutherford or Cleveland Co. However, in 1860 they are in Rutherford County with three children, the oldest (Lee) born ca 1845. - In the 1850 census, Nancy Lovelace, widow of Benjamin who was the son of Ol' Barton the horse thief, shows up as head of household in Rutherford County. Living with her in the home are the three children of Green and Rebecca Moore Lovelace. Question: Why would the three children of a re-married son of Nathan be living with Nathan's widowed sister-in-law? Would it not make more sense if these three children were Nancy's grandchildren? If so, this would place Green Lovelace as a son of Benjamin and Nancy, and not a son of Nathan. Any comments are welcome. I believe this is the situation, but would like to hear from others.... Especially those of you who are experts with the results of the yDNA study. What in the results of the DNA test of Bly pushed us in the direction of placing him as a son of Nathan? 3. Jack, Since I got to looking at Asenath, I agree with you, looking at the 1850 census. I have 2 death dates for her. The one 10 Jan 1850, I got from Pat Brooks in notes on DESCENDANTS OF GILBERT UPDIKE of Allegan County. I believe the same is for the LDS information. The other death date I have is: 10 Jan 1856, and I am not sure where I got it. This date is more logical. Do you have any different death dates for her? BTW, in the same family of Abram/Abraham, I have yet to determine the correct ID of their son Henry. He was born about 1813. Way back in 1999, Dick Loveless brought up the same question. (1) Henry moved to MI, and was married to Martha Marinda “Patty” Thompson. In the 1850 census North Side Vermilion River, Livingston Co., IL. This Henry’s descendants are pretty much document by one Frank Loveless that use to be on the list. (2) Henry lived in NY all the time and in the 1850 census for Dix, Chemung Co., NY, and was married to an Emeline. If you have any other information on Abram's family, please let me know. I do have some information on all of their kids if you are interested. Thank you for your interest in Asenath and asking about that death date, -----Original Message----- From: Jack D. 3. Debbie, Does this mean you have set up your own Loveless tree on Ancestry? If so, you can invite people to participate in building your tree. Instructions on how to do that are located at http://help.ancestry.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/493/kw/how%20to%20share%20a%20family%20tree You can grant varying degrees of participation, but if you want others to help build your tree, you will need to give them "editor" status. You can use either Ancestry id or email address to invite. I will be glad to add the Elijah branch as time permits if you are interested in doing that. My Ancestry id is blgert2 and my email address will appear in the To field above if you do a reply all to this email. I don't really know where all my original research is in my storage unit (where all my worldly belongings are) but I KNOW I have a load of information that none of the Loveless researchers on Ancestry seem to have. Also any tricks that I can use will be greatly appreciated, I love getting the census and birth/death record matches, but there has to be other places to look for more intricate stuff. 3. Hi, folks And hello to Donna ?Moore? <[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > Welcome to the group, Donna. When you get comfortable with us, let us know who you're researching, and we'll do our best to help you connect. In the meantime, feel free to dig in our archives, and be sure to visit our website at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~lovelace Our online library of Lovelxxx documents, narratives, and pictures is an ongoing project to which we add as time allows. You can access it right now by clicking on the "Documents" button on the left margin of the main page. And our y-chromosome DNA study has proven very successful in unravelling the confusion surrounding several of the colonial American Lovelace and Loveless families. The results are posted both on the FamilyTreeDNA website (http://www.familytreedna.com/public/lovelace/) and on our own DNA website (http://dna.satmel.com/results.html) Take a look! Glad to have with us :-) Peace, Part of the Tree, Greg

    3. Hey, Debbie.... So nice to hear from you after such a long time, and I hope all is well. I think you should go to your storage unit and get all your genealogystuff out! You never when those things will flood or when something disastrous will happen and then it will all be gone. I know you did a lot of work way back in the early days of the list, and you should secure that work! As for other places to look, have you tried FamilySearch.org? It is the website of the LDS Church, and they have many many records online for searching. You can search by name or you can go to a specific region of the country/world and search for information. They have digitized millions of records, but not all of them are indexed. You may need to just go through them a page at a time. www.familysearch.org Find-A-Grave is also a good source to search for birth/death information and burials. www.findagrave.com Mocavo is a huge subscription search engine that will comb the web for stuff. www.mocavo.com And then there are other subscription sites... MyHeritage (http://www.myheritage.com/research ), Archives (http://www.archives.com ), Find My Past (www.findmypast.com) and government sites like the Library of Congress. Also the USGenweb page for Saratoga County (http://saratoganygenweb.com/) ... There are just tons of places to look. Plus you can look through the list archives to see if you've missed anything, and you can check on the Saratoga Co., NY list to see what is there. I know this is a lot, but things have really ballooned since we first got going with the list over 20 years ago. The Internet has really made things easier to find, but you still have to dig for them. Hope this gives you some suggestions.... 3. Sorry we have not discussed this sooner. Have been dealing with the death of my dad and other family issues. A cousin and I were able to harvest all files and photos from another myfamily site when the closure was first announced. We copied and created .pdf files within the myfamily categories and are going to make it available to the rest of the family trough DVDs. I was trying to get on the site today and could not. This happens whenever Ancestry makes another announcement about the closure. They have had to extend the closure once because members were not able to access their sites. The mismanagement of this is appalling. If anyone can get access to the Lovelxxx site and wants to start working on copying files, please go ahead. I have so many other things to do right now, I just cannot do it myself. My best to all, Bonnie Fletcher Eggert descendant of John Wesley and Rachel E.
