Mrs. Lovelace was a member of Curlew Baptist Church in Dunedin, FL and formerly employed with the Pinellas County School Board. Surviving are her children, Leroy Quinn (Sheila) of Mt. Holly, NC; B. Diane Smith of Greer, SC, Brenda Hart (Ronnie) Mitzi Aiken (Terry), all of Spartanburg, SC; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Charles B. Lee of Spartanburg, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Richard Smith. Visitation will be 1:00-1:45 PM Friday, January 23, 2015, at Floyd's North Church Street Chapel, 235 N. Church St., Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Al Phillips. Ed was born in Richmond, VA and came to the Hampton Roads area to attend Frederick College. After graduation, he was employed by General Electric Co. for several years. He was presently employed by Plasser American Corp. in Chesapeake where he enjoyed interacting daily with his co-workers. Ed was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He loved his family, friends and neighbors and always had a willingness to help others. You could always count on a hug and a big smile when he greeted you. Mrs. Lovelace was born in Friendship, Tennessee Saturday, July 15, 1939 to the late Clifford Williamson and Irene Barnes. Mr. Blanchard was a graduate of Marshall University in Huntington, WV with a civil engineering degree. Upon graduation, he served in the US Army Corps of Engineers at Ft Lewis, Washington and Viet Nam. Upon returning from Viet Nam, he was an engineering project manager with three federal agencies: US Corps of Engineers, Economic Development Administration and Air Force Regional Civil Engineers. He was a member of Jasper United Methodist Church. Marksberry, Sr. and Janet J. Lovelace Marksberry. He was a graduate of Williamstown High School and was a member of the Williamstown Baptist Church. He proudly served his country for over 10 years in the United States Air Force. During his time in the service, he received the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award, the Air Force Training Ribbon, the Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal. He also received the Humanitarian Service Medal for his part in the relief efforts from the July 1990 earthquake in Northern Luzon, Republic of the Philippines while deployed with the 13th Air Force Medical Center, Medical Rapid Response Force. Survivors include his parents, Rev. She was born to the late James P. and Lether Smith VanDyke in the Love Valley Community of Kings Mountain. She was a long time resident of Grover, NC. Barbara was a textile worker and home maker. Her passion was spending time with her family, cooking and playing the piano. In her early years, she enjoyed playing music with her devoted husband, playing the guitar and mandolin. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Grover. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James William Lovelace; brothers John and R.L. VanDyke; twin sister Mary Jane Allison; sister Sarah Warlick. The family wishes to thank the caring staffs of Summit Place, White Oak Manor and Kings Mountain Hospice as each contributed to her journey home. She is survived by her son, Edward Lovelace and wife Brenda, Kings Mountain; sister, Ila Leonhart, of Kings Mountain; brother, James VanDyke and wife Margie, of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Todd Lovelace and wife Kelly, of Kings Mountain, Erin Lovelace and husband Daven Hunsicker, of Asheville; great grandchildren, Erin Thompson and husband Neil, Samantha Rikard, Luke Rikard, Grayson Hunsicker; and great-great grandchild, Kaytlin Thompson. A visitation will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at Harris Funeral Home. She was born on November 24, 1938, in Hollandale to the late Roy and Edna Cain Williams. She was a homemaker and a caregiver to countless children she kept in her home and loved as her own. They all knew her affectionately as "Mamaw Boots." Mrs. Hunt was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Kilmichael. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother and five sisters.     3. Thomas Bywater Greer, MD November 20, 1927 ~ January 1, 2015 Raleigh Thomas Bywater Greer, MD, 87, of Raleigh passed away January 1, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born November 20, 1927 in Chicago, IL, to the late C. Lester Greer and Atla Bywater Greer. Thom served at multiple hospitals during his four years of service in the Navy. He went on to practice at Ruark, Edgerton, and Greer Obstetrics & Gynecology for over 30 years followed by service as the Chief Medical Officer of the Military Entrance Processing Station. Throughout his medical practice, Thom served as Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Wake Medical Center, Commander of the Raleigh Power Squadron, was a member of The Robert A Ross Obstetrical & Gynecological Society – Chapel Hill, NC, and was also a Trustee of the Raleigh Community Hospital. In 2006 he was awarded the Department of the Army-Commander's Award for Civil Service for his outstanding contributions. Thom was a 1946 graduate of Mount Hermon School in Gill, MA. He completed his undergraduate degree at Tusculum College and received his doctorate in 1954 at Wake Forest University's Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Thom leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Lillian (Wall) Greer of Raleigh, his three children: Cindy Greer (David Goodwin) of Morehead City, Suzanne Lovelace of Johns Creek, GA, and Tom Greer Jr. (Joyce) of Rocky Point, four grandchildren: Hannah Howard, Greer Howard, Zac Lovelace, and Taylor Lovelace, extended family: Gray Wall (Louberta), Bud Wall (Frances), Ross Wall (Pat), Sallie Spainhour, Joy Wall, and Richard Stone.
