Hi David, We're getting multiple copies of the same post time-stamped about 10-15 minutes apart. People here would be happy to take a look in their files to see if they can find the people you mention, but it would help if you could mention a year or even a decade in which one of them was known to have been in a particular place. When were Joe and Rufena born, for example? When was he in Michigan and when in California? There was a reunion on May 16, 2015 in Crofton MD of the descendants of James and Emma Loveless Riddle. There were grandchildren and great grandchildren of 8 of James and Emma's 11 children. There was also a descendant of James C. Loveless ,Emma's brother present. It was wonderful to meet and speak to a lot of these cousins we did not even know of. We hope to do this again and hopefully find even more cousins to attend. Emma Frances Loveless Riddle was the daughter of James H Loveless b. 1825 and granddaughter of James H. Loveless b. 1792. The elder James is as far back as I can go with sources. James b. 1792 had at least 12 children with two wives. I have the will which names the children. His first wife is unknown. She had four children : Elisha, Harriet, John and James . The second wife was Sarah Mangum and she had 8 more children. There has been some controversy regarding the elder James b. 1792 and the identity of his first wife.. It seems that a researcher some time ago (do not know who) assigned the name Henderson to the H. in James' name. This happened because a marriage was listed for a Henderson Loveless and Mary Ann Jones. The date was 1815 which fit so nicely with the birth of James' first son Elisha in 1818. However, a cousin who is a descendant of Elisha Loveless found documents proving that Henderson Loveless who married Mary Ann Jones was in fact Thomas Henderson Loveless . Both names, Henderson and Thomas Henderson were used in the documents. Thomas Henderson Loveless died in 1831. My ancestor James H. b. 1792 died in 1872. It is possible that Thomas and James were brothers. The son of James who was born in 1832 (the year after Thomas died) was named Thomas H. Loveless. He was the first child of James and Sarah Mangum. The identity of the first wife is unknown. Some years ago, Terry White and David Wilson helped me decipher the will of James H. born 1792. I will try to get that on our Lovelace website. Thanks for listening! Barbara Barbara>Ella Keller>.Mary Anne Riddle> John Richard Riddle> Emma Frances Loveless> James Loveless b. 1825>James Loveless b. 1792. Barbara Rendina
Lou Ann, I hope you're doing well and staying dry! Weather nerds that we are, Susan and I have been watching the weather in Texas and Oklahoma with much interest. Susan had an interesting insight involving the Gaea theory, the theory that posits that the planet itself is a living sentient being. Given all the fracking that has been going on in Oklahoma for the past several years, are the heavy rains and the flooding in that area Gaea's way of diluting the chemicals being pumped into the ground during the fracking process? Hmmm? Interesting hypothesis... At least the graves aren't opening up to release the caskets the way it has happened in other floods in the recent past... Take care, and keep us posted... Let's not forget the mountain ranges that are being stripped mined for Borax here in California for the Chinese Industrial growing demand for raw materials. As a boy in Southern California their use to be mountain ranges between Los Angeles and Riverside County (Inland Empire, high desert of California). They are all gone, even the small mountain ranges between Riverside and the boarder of Nevada are gone so the weather system from the Pacific just barrel thru Southern California and hit the low end of the Sierra Nevada ranges without much holding (causing our water shortages and the drying up of the Colorado River as the north of California is trying to provide all the water for the millions of people in the desert known as Los Angeles County. As all have read the national movement to open our national lands for their raw materials to supply the global economy is destroying the natural ecosystems of this planet - at this rate we will have to move to another planet if we do not get our act together and understand we cannot tear down mountain ranges meant to hold storms to let their rain fall in our deserts here in California (e.g., eight year of drought and not looking like any rain in the future) and our middle of our county get "super storms" as our east coast has a perpetual winter syndrome. As an educated society to allow this greed and global conglomerate profit taking and the expense of human existence on this planet is odd, yet we continue to use the belief that this planet has infinite resources to plunder; unfortunately for our government there is not NEW WORLD to take, the Oceans of our planet are junk yards of trash from our throwaway society created by this drive in the "bigger is better" theory that in the end all we are consumers and not human beings living on a planet of finite resources that we must adapt and allow our minds to find solutions instead of staying the fatal course of profit, profit, and the death of our planet. I still stand amazed that nobody sees the problem of cracking the earth's crust to gain a minuscule amount of "dirty oil" for European profit as the American taxpayer pays for the cleanup and leaks. For the sake of their pension plan investments our great or grandchildren will have no planet at all to live on - strange trade off - as we allow this process to continue as we fear the huge conglomerates we have allowed to be created, as we allow the fighting amongst parties (actually this is a one party system not two) which splits our people into camps of for and against, we do not take our brightest minds warnings which have been there since I was a child 60 years ago; we are facing nothing no other great society from Rome to now has not faced, how do we keep power and make everyone need us, well our money is running out, our industry shipped to other lands that are now asking for minimum wage so pricing in the US is soaring as we cannot even make a pencil. Our workforce is now part of a 3rd world education system that once was the envy of the world, our industry is overseas and not paying taxes to support our government, the merchants remaining are being stripped dry like our Post Office paying its pension 15 years in advance as the government uses the 5 billion a month for other general expenditures is criminal. More stupid is this idea we cannot pass a complete budget in 42 years, continuing resolution yet all we hear is the debt side - does anyone (average American that has never been a merchant or accountant) know that there are two sides to a budget, debt and the one they never talk about assets - how much is America worth: $269.6 trillion (2008 Q1) with a debt of $50.7 trillion (2008 Q1); clearly much better than the average household debt; as we listen to this "election 2016 talk about how much we are in debt" it is so sad to see people fall for it and go to the polls and vote in people that continue to hide these facts from the people at large, who is screaming about the debt more and who is trying to regain power after 47 years in it - business has come first, business are now and have human rights, religion has taken over even the VA were Bible Studies are required - so for me our founding fathers must be rolling in their graves to see the land they created become the land they fled from. Hope all is well, me another American Veteran killed by our own nation as the School of Medicine is more important than caring for our veterans, 4th year my glaucoma exam and cataract exam have been cancelled for "Student Orientation) I have had a new cardiologist every 2 months; who just graduated from Residency, yet I am 15 years of heart disease. If the American People knew that every 3 minutes a veteran die's from student mistake they would ride the VA of the School of Medicine, yet the 37K salaries for Doctors would not attack anything that it does not now those that were sued out of the private hospital system and the VA is moving towards NP and PA as they cannot attack any competent doctors. As these doctors get the "Student Brown Noise" effect I get 22 heart attacks, 16 by overdose, 6 overdoses, 2 allergic reaction unchecked, now beaten up by one of their employee they allow me to be damaged more as they hide this employee from the DA here in San Francisco. I have never seen such a institutional corrupt place in my life where teaching comes first and the veteran is the school book for them to do as they wish, but wave that flag to get that vote every election cycle. My two cents, drafted to Vietnam and killed by my own nation - wow how proud I am to be an American, not a Veteran I can assure you as I am ashamed the American People treat their troops as human lab rats. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Greg Lovelace via Sent: Tuesday, May 26, 2015 8:31 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [LL] Lou Ann Lou Ann, I hope you're doing well and staying dry! First, I want to say to Lou Ann that thoughts and prayers are headed your way from California. I ordinarily wouldn't wish a dry spell on anyone, but if I could tear off a big chunk of California's rainless skies and relocate that piece to Oklahoma, I would do so in a flash. All you people there and further south in Texas need some relief, and you need it fast. To Greg's request, I thought I had posted this when I came across it in February, but perhaps not. I can't find a posting in my email store. http://www.hmdb.org/Photos1/195/Photo195343o.jpg That's the grave marker for my 3G Grandfather, Seborn Loveless (whose given name I had spelled Seaborn until this monument turned up), 1807-1841. This stone is in the cemetery of Ruhamah Methodist Church in Holland Store in Anderson District SC just a couple of miles from the Georgia border. This particular stone was erected by his daughter Mary several years after his death, perhaps in the late 1860s. Mary was not even three years old when he died. After his death, his widow and two children are found near Lou Ann's Lovelesses in Cherokee County GA and eventually in Cullman County AL. There are some long complicated stories to go with that connection, but I won't go into them at this time. Seborn was a grandson of Barton the Horse Thief through Barton's little known son Samuel, which connects him to a lot of people on this list. Robert H. Ferrey(1931 - 2015) Graveside funeral services for Robert H. Ferrey, 84, a resident of Bishop for more than 60 years, will be held Saturday, May 9, 11 a.m. at the East Line Street Cemetery. The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8988, and David Lent will officiate. Born Jan. 13, 1931 in Los Angeles to Robert H. Ferrey II and the former Pomena J. Kelly, Robert was 5 years old when his father unexpectedly died. He was then raised by his mother and stepfather in East Los Angeles. Shortly after his 1948 graduation from Garfield High School, Robert's family relocated to Chalfant Valley. Robert worked at the Bishop Bowling Alley as a pinsetter before going to work for Chalfant Press. He joined the U.S. Navy as the Korean War began and served four years aboard the U.S.S. Rochester. Upon discharge, Robert attended Los Angeles Trade Tech, studying commercial printing. While at L.A. Trade Tech, he met the love of his life, Sandra L. Jensen. The couple married Oct. 6, 1955 and would spend 59 years together. After briefly living in Iowa and South Dakota, the couple returned to Bishop and both went to work at Chalfant Press, Robert as a compositor and Sandra as a linotype operator. Both stayed with Chalfant Press for many years, operating various printing equipment, including the newspaper web presses. They retired from printing in 2005 with Robert putting in more than 45 years as a commercial printer. The couple had one daughter, Barbara, in 1964. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed reading, working on cars, reminiscing about his Navy days and spending time with his wife, daughter and son-in-law. Friends recall Robert as a kind and caring man who shared his knowledge about printing and newspaper production with those willing to learn. Robert was named "Best Friend of Mule Days" by The Bishop Mule Days Executive Committee in 1990 for his many dedicated years of laying out and printing the event's Souvenir Program. Robert was also a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Robert died May 1 at Northern Inyo Hospital in Bishop following a brief illness.
