    3. Jack, Here is the tree/profile that Robert Cates has a DNA Match to: http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436822105/facts The parents are listed as - William Lovelace 1720–1815 <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835486> - <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835487> <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835487> <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835487>Margaret Beall <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835487> 1727–1803 <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835487> - They have as a Sibling to Hazzel, James Lovelace, but not Isaac. James LOVELACE 1771–1846 <http://person.ancestry.com/tree/76163274/person/38436835499> - I can't find any public trees that list Isaac and James as brothers nor any that have John 1745 as their father (William is more common). My focus is the DNA research, so any help in getting the trees straight is very very much appreciated. I started a Love**** tree built from public trees, but there are so many conflicts I don't really have anything useful. I'd gladly work with people here to get the best guess of the MD group tree on WikiTree or Geni Lenny On Sat, Jun 25, 2016 at 1:53 PM, brondak via <lovelace@rootsweb.com> wrote: > Jack, > Remind me why you took all those other SC guys off as sons of Joseph and > Sarah. 3. Further indication that Elkanah Watson in KY might be Lucy Watson Lovelace's brother is that in 1790 he was on a MD census with 5 daughters. In KY his daughter Sarah married a Joseph Craycroft. The Craycrofts were from Prince George's/Frederick Counties in MD. Families traveling to KY together? Maybe. Also what's interesting is that Thomas Craycroft married first a Rebecca Mann in MD. Her family was supposedly from MA where I found the original Elkanah Watson. Connection? More families traveling together? Who knows. Needs more work. Lou Ann

    1. [LL] The name Elkanah..
    2. Brondak via
    3. Has anyone ever noticed that both Lucy Watson and husband Barton (our old horsethief Barton) both had brothers named Elkanah who were both born at around the same time. Makes me wonder what connections the Watsons and the wife or mother of our Benjamin had. The mothers of both Lucy and Barton were named Sarah, so it isn't likely they were sisters, but....I still can't help but wonder about the name Elkanah. I have found Elkanah Watsons going back to the 1600's in Plymouth MA, but I haven't found s connection to them and the MD Watsons....at least not yet. I've also found Watsons living around the Cantrells in PA (remember Lucy took up with Abraham Cantrell) and I wonder if the Cantrells and Watsons were acquainted before they all moved out of PA, with Lucy's family going to MD and the Cantrells to VA then NC. One of the othet Cantrells also married a Watson, either a brother or cousin to Abraham. I don;t know what all that signifies, but it is food for thought and one avenue of research to help clarify these families. By the way, the only Elkanah Watson I have found anywhere after the 1876 census in MD is one in KY who has a daughter Sarah born in MD. No proof, but he very well might be Lucy's brother, since her brother had both mother and sister named Sarah. Lou Ann

    3. Bob and all Lovel***, Never fear, I read every email, even those not about my line... which happens to be all of them! My Loveless roots from England > Rhode Island > New York > Vermont > New York > Illinois is not a common one. Those of you from the southern lines are so fortunate to have so many involved. The descendants from Ariel Corbin and Eliza Gray Loveless have scattered to the four winds and apparently are not interested in genealogy. I have been on this list since 1998 and I treasure every moment. This list helped me connect to my gr-gr-grandparents, John Wesley and Rachel E. Loveless Fletcher. It really spurred me on to further research, which I have done almost every day since (not always on the Loveless line!). Through this list, I found out that Lou Ann's cousins, Charles and (son Michael) Loveless, live in the same neighborhood my hub and I moved into last year. Where else would I have found out that!?? The leadership by Greg is admirable and so much more personable and informative than any other list I have ever been on. And though less active in the past, this list is WAY more active than any other to which I am subscribed. Let's keep on keepin' on!
