    1. Re: Birmingham Love Meeting (NC/Ga/Al Loves)
    2. The meeting in Birmingham came about almost spontaneously. There were about six of us who communicate regularly via the Internet who are descendents of one Tyra LOVE who (with his parents) arrived in St.Clair Co. AL about 1818. We had met on the Internet and had talked about a mini-reunion. When a researcher from St. Louis announced that she was going to AL for a weeks research, it seemed like a good time and place for the reunion. We had less than 10 days to organize it. We contacted the researchers whom we personally knew and I am ashamed to say that things were so hectic that I did not even think of announcing it on the ROOTS mailing list. Again I am sorry. We had 29 people in attendance from IL, TX, TN, MS, AR and AL. All adults, all interested in genealogy, most were researchers. Most of the research and work at the meeting centered around the parentage of Tyra LOVE. Records obtained from the St.Clair and Blount county court houses pretty well confirmed our suspicion that Tyra's parents were Samuel Love who married Elizabeth Nation in 1789 Mecklenburg Co. NC. We suspect that this is the Samuel of the 1791 will of John and Sarah Love of Mecklenburg. Aside from the Tyra lineage we had a fascinating presentation by our two eminent researchers, Gerald and Sep Love of the various LOVE families in VA, NC and SC during the Rev. War period. A lot of incorrect linkages were brought to light. One of particular significance was the error in some books of confusing Col. David with the David in the 1791 Will of John and Sarah.
