There is a petition in early Cabarrus County NC signed by Charles Love. He later witnessed a deed before moving to Rutherford County before 1800. His father James Love recieved a land grant adjoining lands owned by Jonathan Osborne. Jonathan is the son of Christopher Osborne. There is a Christopher Osborne (father of Jonathan) who left a will in late 1780's Mecklenburg County NC. He names daughter Fervy. Charles Love married Fervy or Fereby ca. 1792 about the time Cabarrus was cut from Mecklenburg County. Charles had son James who had son Cristopher Osborne Love. Charles also had sons Ingram and others whose names reflect their ancestral roots. Charles Love is likely named for what appears to be a Charles Love found in records of Halifax County VA. When James, the father of our Charles, left Halifax County for NC, he sold land to a Charles Love. I believe he may be a younger brother who died young. But for sure Charles is the son of James and Mary Ingram Love. His sisters married in Cabarrus County in the Howell family.
