I think you need to verify which John Love you're referring to here. The John Love that I know served as an Elder in Faggs Manor, was married to Ann and BOTH are buried in Faggs Manor Cemetery - He Never left Penn to go to Tenn. He was b ca 1705 It's a different John Love who married Margaret Fleming. This John Love was b ca 1768. Good Hunting, Love, Lou Louis E. Love, O.D. 3. Is any one researching the following Love family: John LOVE, b. about 1788 in Ireland, d. about 1879 in Whitfield Co, GA. See below. Bill Chattanooga, TN [email protected] Descendants of John LOVE - 1 May 2003 First Generation 1. John LOVE was born about 1788 in Ireland. He died about 1879 in Whitfield Co, GA. He was buried in Georgia. John was a farmer. John LOVE was born about 1788 in Ireland and was dead by 1880. Elizabeth McCARTER was born about 1795 in Ireland and was also dead by 1880. The family tale is that they both came over to America on a boat as children, but met and married later. There was a boat The Brothers, that sailed from Londonderry to Philadelphia in December 1806. In steerage was a James LOVE (Quantity of Baggage one Bundle) and a Thomas McCarter (Quantity of Baggage, One Chest, One Barrel). I have not been able to prove it, but I believe these were the fathers of John and Elizabeth. John would have been 18 and Elizabeth 11 - far enough apart not to socialize on a boat. They probably married about 1815 as William J. was born in 1816. Their children, according to the census reports, were: William J. b. 1816 in NC; John H. b. 1822 in NC; Robert R. b. 1827 in NC; James b. 1829 in NC; McCarter b. 1832 in GA; Sarah b. 1834 in GA. Census reports have them in 1840 in Union County GA 1850 in Gilmer County (John 62, Elizabeth 55 McCarter 18 and Sarah 16). 1860 Pickens County Georgia, Talking Rock. (John 78, Elizabeth 65, William H. 12, Elizabeth 6 Talitha 5). Children of Andrew M. LOVE. 1870 Whitfield County with Sarah and Frederick THOMPSON. Census says John is 85 (FARMER, almost helpless) and Elizabeth is 78, keeping house, helpless.) They are not listed in the 1880 census and are presumed dead. My grandfather, George Washington LOVE, son of McCarter LOVE, remembered going to visit John and Elizabeth and hearing them speak in Gaelic when they didn't want the children to understand them. John LOVE and Elizabeth MC CARTER? were married about 1815 in North Carolina. 1840 Census Union Co., GA 1850 Census Gilmer Co., GA, Fam 1301 (GA-38) 1860 Census Pickens Co., GA 1870 Census Whitfield Co., GA - John and Elizabeth are living with daughter Sarah Love Thompson in Mill Creek District. Some of the sons were Tanners. Elizabeth MC CARTER? was born about 1795 in Ireland. She died in Whitfield Co, GA. Elizabeth was born about 1795 in Ireland and died prior to 1880. She came to America at about the age of 11. There was a boat, The Brothers, that sailed from Londonderry to Philadelphia in December 1806. In Stearage was a Thomas McCarter (quantity of baggage - one chest and one barrel). John LOVE and Elizabeth MC CARTER? had the following children: +2 i. William Jasper LOVE (born on 29 Mar 1816). +3 ii. John H. LOVE (born on 29 Dec 1819). +4 iii. Andrew Madison LOVE (born on 14 May 1822). +5 iv. Robert R. LOVE (born in 1827). +6 v. James W. LOVE (born on 19 Jul 1828). +7 vi. McCarter LOVE (born in 1832). +8 vii. Sarah E. LOVE (born in 1834).
