I am interested in a DNA kit, which, since Love is my father's line, I will have my brother participate. I believe family research takes my line back to Centre County, PA, to David Love from County Tyrone, Ireland. Thank you for any info. Karen Love Judge Chicago, IL
Karen if you will go to ftdna.com [Family Tree DNA] you'll find all the info for ordering kits and prices too. Holler out if you have a problem. Karen, There are a few services that provide DNA testing for genealogical purposes. Most people that have decided to participate in the Love DNA Project have chosen to go with Family Tree DNA (www.familytreedna.com). From the main website you go to the projects, choose L then scroll down to Love (also the link here should work, https://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.aspx?code=B98332&special=True&pro jecttype=S). My husband decided to start with the 12 marker test, being unsure of the whole DNA testing and its results. I would go with the most markers you can afford, its cheaper in the long run. Pricing runs from $99 for the 12 marker to $269 for the 67 marker. You can also bump up the number of markers at a later date without retesting by just ordering refinement. Ensure you join the project through the group site so that you qualify for the group rate for a kit. The testing is easy, a kit includes what looks like a paper toothbrush that gets scubbed on the inside the cheek to provide the sample for testing. The instructions are pretty straightforward but should you have questions once you get your kit, please contact me.
