Hello, everyone. My name is Galen Robert Love, and I'm new to the mailing list. I recently traced my direct paternal line back to Robert Love (1734 - 17 Dec 1826, buried in Presbyterian Cemetery, Emmitsburg, Frederick Co., Md). Robert was married to Jane (1744-1817), and his children were Robert Love (b 1776), Jain Love (b 1778), and Mary Love (b 1786). Have any of the rest of you traced back to this same Robert Love? I haven't been able to find any information on who his parents were or where he was from -- can anyone shed some light on this? For reference, one site that I ran across mentioned another individual named Leonard Love (born abt 1746, d 1820 in Bracken, KY). The site said that Leonard married Elizabeth Veares? in Frederick, MD in about 1767. Leonard's marriage date and location make me wonder if he might have been a brother to the Robert Love I'm researching. Hi Cuzin Galen: I'm Louis E. Love & your cuzin Wasllace K. Love [sister Barbara Marshall] did the yDNA study & matched my yDNA test. SO - we are related somewhere back up the line. I'm going thru my database looking for possible Robert Love connections - but we may be related several hundred years back in Scotland or Ireland & never know who may be the missing link. My line traces back to James Love, the weaver, b 1704 and is of Scots/Irish ancestry. Whether he was b in Ireland or Penn. is debatable. James had 4 brothers that we know of - John, who stayed in PA., Robert, William & Alexander who came south to SC with James. They all had many sons & all had a Robert. Robert the son of James was b 1728. Robert s/o John was b 1734 & d 1828 - but he m Jeannette White 1757 - had 13 Children - among them - Robert b 1767 - Jane b 1761 - but no Mary. Robert Jr s/o Robert was b 1744 - m Sarah McDowell - d 1779 Robert s/o Alexander b ca 1761 - I have no further info on him We don't know much about the William 'English Bill" family.
