    3. Yes, Mickey - I suppose they could be the same - as you say, the borders were redrawn, more than once, if memeory serves. I have not personnaly researched that aspect, as you certainly have, so I accept the evidence - regardless of what I may [or may not] "know". I've not seen the grants, and with all the James', John's, William's, Robert's, etc around, I don't know how we seperate & identify them with any certainty - it just seems to be an accumulation of data that gives an overwhelming body of evidence that's convincing. So let's keep digging and adding to the evidence. Mickey, you've certainly added to that body of evidence with all the wills you've found, the land grants add to that. Census and tax records, church records, family bibles, & whatever else we can find to nail these folks down to a time and place all seperate and identify our roots. Wow - I'll get off the soapbox now !! Love, Lou Mickey Fournier <mwfournier@comcast.net> wrote: Oh, I won't ever give up! I have spent several days in Chester County and I thought I had scoured everything. Lou, I know your James and some of his sons had North Carolina land grants that turned out to be in South Carolina when the line was straightened out. Could this be your folks in the records of Mecklenburg? The names are right. I have Campbells in Chester and Fairfield Counties, SC, also. Those folks will drive you totally nuts! -----Original Message----- From: geothos@bellsouth.net [mailto:geothos@bellsouth.net] Sent: Monday, June 11, 2007 10:55 PM To: Mickey Fournier; 'Lou Love'; Love@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: Re: [LOVE] Loves of Chester County, SC ca 1800 Micky, Don't give up. Years ago I spent a summer in the Chester County courthouse digging through records there in order to try to prove a THOMAS family in Alabama were kin to David Thomas of Chester. Read every book in the moldy basement and did not find what I was looking for. On top of the eight foot cabinets that line the basement, there were piles of old court books. I climbed up on top of the cabinet and set myself to reading. Sure enough, in a day book by a judege who was sitting in for a judge who was sick, was written the names of heirs from the estate of David Thomas and where they 'now live' ...in Alabama! Anyhow, I have always wondered about the LOVE family in Chester/Union County SC and the James/William/ John Love of Mecklenburg NC. James of Mecklenburg appeared to be the father...not my James Love of Cabarrus. He received land in 1772 stating that he was from "Cumberland County NC". I find record of him there too ...earlier. On the same day, James, William and John all acquired land in Mecklenburg. They signed a petition about the evils and fairness of men who were receiving very large grants of land. Then in 1784 they disappeared. These three lived in the area around Rocky River Presbyterian Church in now Cabarrus. They had attended Pine Bluff Presbyterian in Cumberland NC. Their neighbors in the Cabarrus area were involved in the buring of Hugh Waddel's ammo waggon during the regulator movement. In the 1750's, Rev. Hugh McAden Preached at Rocky River Presbyterian and then down to SC where he preached and stayed at James Love's on the Broad River. There were CAMPBELL interation with your LOVE in Chester/Union. There is also a Campbell family who lived next to this James Love in Cabarrus/Mecklenburg. The Morrison family came from PA possibly through eastern nc. I just wonder if there is a tie to this family? All you Loves out there... have any of you worked on the LOVE family who showed up in Abbeville District SC ca. 1780's? I suspect they are part of the family of James Love of earlier in Mecklenburg..... > > From: "Mickey Fournier" > Date: 2007/06/11 Mon PM 09:32:07 EDT > To: "'Lou Love'" , > Subject: Re: [LOVE] Loves of Chester County, SC ca 1800 > > Lou: > > I have been watching the list daily but haven't posted in quite a > while.
