    3. Hi Pat, On James Allison Love. Darling Love had a son James Allison Love. Is said that one of this James Allison Love's nephews or nieces stated that he "James Allison Love" was named for his grandfather. Old thinking was that Darling was the son of James (of VA to Cabarrus NC) and therefore this older James would also be named James Allison Love.Allison is a surname. But there are no Allison living among the Love family in VA. The Allison family was prominent in Cabarrus County NC at and before the time Darling was born. So it makes sense that if the thinking was right, James Allison was named not for our old grandsire, but to another younger James Love. This has been a sticking point for so many years. We knew of the marriage of James and Polly Tucker, and we knew of a James who served in the War of 1812; but yet we had no real record to define the life of this younger James Love. The marriage record was either ignored or explained into life record of grandsire Jimmy. This was a brick wall. The discovery of the pension and bounty claim application by Mary Tucker Love Brooks opens the door to new thinking. I believe she and young James [Allison] Love are the parents of Darling et. al. On Mary Elizabeth Ingram Love. All legal records recording the wife of grandsire Jimmy names her as "Mary." Have never seen court documentation where she is "Mary Elizabeth." Another James came through Cabarrus from earlier in Cumberland County NC. This James had a wife "Elizabeth." In all records, she is known as "Elizabeth." ....with no mention of Mary. I think early searchers of our family combined the records for these two to create Mary Elizabeth Love. And by so doing, was able to attach to our James Love the revolutionary war voucher claims attributable to the other James from earlier in Cumberland County. This other James and likely son John Love disappear from Mecklenburg NC by 1785. I think it wrong to make DAR claim on the record of our James Love. I felt good about this until another Love searcher pointed out an entry on the Ingram Family List. Mary Ingram married James Love. Mary's father is John Ingram. This lady hired a researcher who found an Ingram family Bible in Indiana or Illinois. The record was copied and given to the lady and she placed it on the Ingram List. This record names and gives the birth record for the children of John and Patience Berry Ingram. It names "Mary Elizabeth Ingram." I contacted the person who provided the information and was told the record came from another printed source of unknown origin in Indiana. So.....though not believeing earlier searchers would have made this connection via the Bible record, ultimately, the results were correct.
