Hi Mickey, Let me know if you get a bite. I have written a Love man and he knows of three John Loves in SC. He thinks ours could be one he knows. I have printed out the letter but have not witten him back. I need to copy it for you. I have tried to forward things to you but your server will not deliver them. Subj: John Love Date: 97-06-04 23:21:04 EDT From: malove@tenet.edu Reply-to: malove@tenet.edu To: GaleFuller@aol.com (Gale Fuller) Hi Gale, Thanks for the note. I'm always on the look out for new info. or new Love lines. I have several John Loves in my line. The names John,William & Samuel are certainly plentiful in this Love family. I. John Love-son of Joseph H. Love,Sr. & Margaret Bryan.Born 1746 in VA(?). II. John Wilson Love(II)-son of Joseph B. Love & Rebecca McElroy. Born in 1830 in TN(?). III. John Wilson Love-son of Joseph Love III & Martha Wilson. Born in 1808 in VA(?),died 1871 in ?.Brother of above Joseph B. Love. Married Martha Wharton. As you see, the name Joseph is also BIG in the family. The Joseph group forms my direct line. Other than the info. I jotted above, I have nothing else on the Johns. I'm convinced that some of the early Loves migrated into the Carolinas and Georgia, so South Carolina is really not out of the question. There were three distinct migration patterns in the family: one north & west, one mid country to Tennesee, Arkansas,& Oklahoma, and one south to Carolinas,Georgia, Alabama and Texas. I'm of the "Texas Boys". The death date for your John Love seems reasonable for the John Love (I) above. Please, let's keep this line of communication open. This might be the very info. I need. Bill Love Now I will do the others I have tried to send to you. I do not know that I have ever heard of James Love. I also thank you for the information on the Love page. I am going out of town for 4 days and will shut things down but will sign up when I get back. Thank you. I do not have a son named William for John Royall Love. My ancestor is Milton Royall Love and I need to check and see if any of the papers I have has any other children listed. I see a Lucinda but am not sure this is a sister of Milton Royall's. How do you know of a son William? You are so knowledgable on the Love family. I need to learn more from you! Please bear with me as I get to this line. I really do want to learn more as well as share what I have. Gale And another: Date: Tue, 27 May 1997 23:43:20 -0400 (EDT) From: GaleFuller@aol.com Message-ID: <970527234320_36876182@emout10.mail.aol.com> To: fouriner@hankins.com Subject: Fwd: John Love of SC --------------------- Forwarded message: From: dcollins@execpc.com (Don Collins) To: GaleFuller@aol.com Date: 97-05-27 11:06:18 EDT Gale, >I do not know if we go to Joseph or not. I only go back to John but that does >not mean that is can not be proven that he is decended from Joseph! I would >certainly like to try. I'm sure that your John Royal Love is not a son of Joseph Love. I have one source that says John Royal Love was a son of James Love: James1 Love - married Martha ______; came to southern Pennsylvania from County Antrim, Ireland by 1737. Moved to York or Chester County, SC at least by 1755; wrote his will in 1760. The now famous Lockhart clothing mills began with old James' weaving looms , this trade passed down to his grandchildren who married Lockharts. But it makes more sense to go with your source which sayd that John Royal Love was a son of John Love who married Elizabeth Royal. Your John Royal Love had a son, William. Do you know the name of William's wife? To subscribe to the Love List: 1. send a message to: LOVE-L-request@rootsweb.com 2. leave the subject blank; 3. put the word "subscribe" (no quotation marks) in the message area with nothing else. I'm going to put the information about Joseph Royall in a separate message. Don And one more: Date: Tue, 27 May 1997 23:43:43 -0400 (EDT) From: GaleFuller@aol.com Message-ID: <970527234322_485968278@emout12.mail.aol.com> To: fouriner@hankins.com Subject: Fwd: Records of Joseph Royall Mickey, I am forwarding you a couple of Love letters. Gale --------------------- Forwarded message: From: dcollins@execpc.com (Don Collins) To: GaleFuller@aol.com Date: 97-05-27 11:08:57 EDT Gale, Here is an abstract of the information about Joseph Royall from Cavaliers and Pioneers by Nugent. ________________ 15 Aug 1637: Joseph Royall granted 300 acres in Henrico Co at S.C. side of Turkey Island Creek for his having paid the transportation of himself, his first wife, Thomasin, his present wife, Ann, his brother Henry, and two other persons: Robert Warwell and Jon. William Randolph was granted 900 acres (lapsed land) in Henrico Co. on north side of Appamattox River; adj. Col. Francis Epes; Joseph Royal & Col. George Archer. Granted Joseph royal 22 Jan 1717, on conditionof seating &c., who, by will devised sd. land to Joseph Royal, Henry Royal, William Royal & Richard Dennis who failed to make such seating, &c. My guess is that only the first three entries above relate to the original Joseph Royall and that the last three are for a son, Joseph.
