To all who responded to my posting, especially Carolyn: I don't know who these LOVEs were and I have no idea of John's birthdate. Ted Kaufman says the son Samuel was married Elizabeth NATIONS in Mecklenburg in 1789. If this was a first marriage, that's a clue. The men in my lines seem to have usually married at about 25 to 30. My John LOVE (d.1799 Chester County, SC) would fit quite nicely into this picture as the son, John. That is wishful thinking, of course. I'm about desperate!! In 1821 in Morgan County, AL, a Joseph LOVE (there was a son Joseph in the will) became guardian of some of the above John's orphaned grandchildren. Joseph died in Morgan County in 1825. I have his will if anybody is interested but I can find no clue as to where he came from. This alone gives me a ray of hope that this may be my John. Do ya'll have any idea how many John LOVEs there were in upstate South Carolina at the same time? I wish my guys Mama had named him Ebenezer!
