He married a Lydia Pamplin. They are both in Pulaski County, Missouri on the 1850 census (listed as Samuel and Lydia Lorr)but they died before 1860. Their daughter (my gg grandmother, Olive Ann Love is living with her grandparents, Issac and Phebe on the 1860 census. I think Samuel may have died about 1854 but I'm not sure. My Loves came to Pennsylvania from Scotland/Ireland in the early 1700's. My progenitor James & his brothers John, Robert, Alexander & William were born there in the UK. I think they came here with their parents, but can't locate them and where they departed or landed. They were just beamed down into Penn. with records showing them there in the 1720's. I'll be happy to send it along when I get it. There were many Loves in Tenn and NC, and they had the annoying habit of using the same names. General Thomas and his brother Col Robert Love each had at least 10 kids and used the same names. I imagine their brother James did as well. Here are some snippets from a 1905 letter written by Thomas Calvin Love (1844-1920) to my gr-gfather who was his nephew: (TC was a grandson of General Thomas Love) ". . . I will enclose another sheet copy of Bible Record for your information. The Col Robt Love was the brother of my grandfather, Genl Thomas Love. Both dying about the same time. One in North Carolina and the other in Tenn. Leaving a large partnership, land interest in Tenn, over the settlement of which for was about 46 years of litigation between the heirs of each generally turned the North Carolina Loves (Genl Robt) and Tenn Loves (Genl Thos) our side of the house. Uncle Robt Love, the oldest son of my Grandfather was a soldier under Genl Jackson at New Orleans. I have a family souvenir consisting of a solid silver belt buckle of the sword worn by him as Col of the 4th US Infantry. This sword and buckle was given to my father in the wilds of Mississippi when he, a sixteen year old boy with a large wagon train of supplies met Genl Jackson's famished soldiers on their overland march back to civilization after the end of that war in N.O. . . . cousin Warren Love Ro! berts, Paris Tenn, only child of Uncle Sam Love, who settled up my grandfather's estate and had much to do in the way of business between the North Carolina and Tenn families- has many old letters and documents of those times, . . . Your Aunt Sallie and I visited Cousin Warren in 1894 and while there your aunt saw many of these old papers . . ." Mary Jane Love was born in 1858 apparently in Georgia, it list her father as William Love born around 1805. I cannot determine who her mother was and which William Love was her father. I think he belonged to Jonathan and Sarah Emily Basdale, but I am not sure. The names are intertwined and apparently there were some inter-family marriages as well. Jane Pruett was reportedly born in 1805 in Virginia and Mahala Love was born in 1828 in North Carolina. Mahala's parents were David Love and Nancy Rarden. But the census records from the early 1800's in North Carolina are not very good and I can't figure out some of the connections. HELP from any Love descendent would be appreciated.
