I am not sure if you are replying to my post about Elizabeth Love born Ireland 1824, but in any case, I have no information about her parents. All I know (or surmise, from what family members have said) is that she was born in Ireland (possibly Co. Cork), and that she died in Hamilton Ontario Canada aged 94, in 1918. Her obituary in the Hamilton Spectator (1918) says she was born in Ireland but had lived in the city (Hamilton) "since she was a little girl." She married a George Wild(e) and had three children in Cayuga, so I am not sure how to read that obit - I do know that she had three children, two daughters and a son (perhaps more, but I don't know). The son, James Wild, had no children; one daughter moved to the U.S.; the other daughter, Margaret Wild(e) who married Harry Saltmark aka Saltmarsh aka Marshall, would be my g-grandmother). Elzabeth Love's husband George was thought to have "died" or "disappeared in the bush" in 1867 (that is what the tombstone in the North Cayuga cemetery "asserts," at least that he died, that year). However, he apparently reappeared in Bay City, Michigan in the 1890s for his dad's funeral; his dad was Stephen Wild married to Sarah Stamp, who had emigrated to Haldimand from northern England, sometime in the late 1830s or early 1840s, and then moved on to Michigan). Unfortunately, the records for that cemetery disappeared in a fire (I visited in the 1980s). Very difficult to trace my Elizabeth Love. I am trying to trace her parents, but after all, maybe she did not come here with her parents, maybe she just got sent over to Canada (perhaps via the U.S., but I don't know) on some untraceable ship in the 1830s. Or a bit later, sometime during the famine. But thank you for sharing. Kind regards, Carolyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [LOVE] James Love GA 1820 and 1830
    2. Fred, I honestly believe that your James Love was in Cabarrus / Montgomery County NC ca. 1794. That he was the same person that signed the undated petition for new public buidings for the county of Cabarrus. He would be the 'James Love Junior' son of James Love Senior listed by his side in the petition. The age of your James would fit nicely within the age range of other children of James and Mary Ingram Love. Your James had a son named for his mother's family. Your James must have left out from Cabarrus after 1794 and prior to 1800. If he is the son of James and Mary Ingram Love, then his brother Charles also left at the same time to Rutherford County NC. After his death, Charles's wife and some of his children moved to Gordon County GA ca. 1840. There are numerous deeds and Grants in the name of James Love in Cabarrus and Montgomery Counties. Are they all for Senior? ... or could there be one or two that were actually made by your James? Gold was found in Cabarrus in 1798 and kept quiet until 1803. Old James was next door neighbor to John Reed, the father of Conrad who discovered the gold. Conrad married a Love girl. We in NC are so wrapped up with the record of old James Love, that we have very likely over looked records that should be attributed to your James Love. Many Many of the neighborhood ended up in Campbell and surrrounding aras of GA. Michael Austin moved to Lincoln County TN then down to Cambell. The Howell Family (heavily intermarried and involved with the Love family) also moved to Campbell. The Children of Archibald McLarty (his land adjoined that of old James Love) moved to Campbell. John Kiser, Green, Bond, and I'm sure many others made the move too. I wonder about the route of your James Love. Did he live in SC and for how long? Many of the others came straight to GA. Some through TN. Many from Campbell County GA went to Cherokee AL. Part of my family moved from Anson NC to Cherokee AL. Always wondered what route they took. Went to Cherokee AL and there met an old lady who knew the answer. She giggled with memory of sitting on her greandfahter's lap and him telling her of traveling through Rutherford County NC and lossing their way, a local gave them directions for the cost of a chew of tobacco! So from this, I learned that my people went to AL by way of the mountains and not I-85. Anyhow, my concern is with SC and exactly what happened there and when. Are you dead certain that James Love lived in Edgefield SC? If so, what records prove that he did? I don't know of any others from Cabarrus that stopped over in Edgefield. Birds of a feather flock together. I wonder what other birds flew along with and in the same route as your James Love. By the way, knowing your DNA matches descendants of old James Love of NC, we know you are couisn! I sure wish the Familytreedna site better identified the seperate lines and also better identified the lines that are known to be kin! You know, it really is time that we get started a LOVE family reunion in honor of James and Elizabeth of Brunswick County VA. > > From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> > Date: 2007/05/28 Mon PM 07:41:28 EDT > To: <LOVE-L@rootsweb.com> > Subject: [LOVE] James Love GA 1820 and 1830 > > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: OliverLove56 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.love/3641/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > George and those of you that have an interest in James Love of GA. > > I went back thru my notes and the US Fed Census and would like your > consideration and or comments on the following: > > I have long believed that James first lived in Walton Co., GA when he came > from SC. > The 1820 census for Walton Co, GA lists > > 2 males age 16-20; this would be John and James. > 1 male over 45 would be James. > 1 female 26-45; would be 2nd wife Elizabeth. > > >From this I would say that sons John and James were born in SC and went to > GA with their father. > > Ingram would not be in the household as he is age 31 and married to Nancy > Sentell. > > Elizabeth is not in the household as she is married to a McCune and may > still be in SC or as the will seems to indicate she had died before then. > > Mary is not in the household as she is married to John Brooks in 1808. > > The 1830 census for Campbell Co., GA shows; > > 1 Male 60-70; would be James the head of household. > 1 Female 40-50; would be 2nd wife Elizabeth. > 1 Male under 5 and 1 male under 10 would be Josiah and Joseph. > > This may be why James named Stephen James executor of his will. 1. [LOVE] Maryland Eastern Shore Loves from late 1700s through 1870s?

Author: zencat13 Surnames: Love, Shelton Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.love/3642/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for Maryland (and Delaware) Eastern Shore Loves from late 1700s through late 1800s. My brother David George Shelton's 37 marker Y-DNA results show many close (1,2,3 markers off) matches with Love families. We suspect a "Love-child" around 1850s or earlier. David's great grandfather was James T. Shelton. James's mother was Ann (Shelton)...could have been her maiden name. We have not located James's father yet. The 37 marker matches of Y DNA with Loves are very close...but not with Sheltons. Any Eastern Shore info...especially around Massey or Galena Maryland? James was born in 1854. He had a brother Benjamin A. Shelton born in 1842. Benjamin's death certificate indicates "father's name unknown". Ann was born in Delaware, probably...census records differ...somewhere round 1819. An interesting mystery. All sleuthing welcomed. Amy Emily Shelton zencat13@att.net Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Saw Fred and Lou posting today and caught Linda's Feb reply. I have absolutely nothing on these folks. I have a Calvin Welborne HUNNICUTT/HONEYCUTT, born 27 Feb 1827 in Mecklinburg Co., NC to a Joseph Honeycutt and a POLLY (MARY) LOVE. These are the parents listed on Calvin's death certificate. Calvin also named his firstborn son Luther LOVE Hunnicutt. I found an old genealogy chart tracing some of the Hunnicutt family and written way out in the corner it looks like Polly Love's parents are JNO LOVE and ______ INGRAH(A)M in maybe "Wilkes Co". Very hard to read. Polly may have married Joseph Honeycutt(and/or had a son) before she married someone else, HAGLER, for instance. There are family stories of a mean step-mother kicking the boys out in the 1830's..they went to GA. This means there was at least a 2nd marriage for Joseph Hunnicutt after 1827. There are Haglers, ! Loves and Honeycutts living in the Mecklinburg, Stanly, Union, Cabarrus County area. So, does anyone have a LOVE marrying an INGRAM or a LOVE marrying a Honeycut(t) in North Carolina in the late 1700's early 1800s?? 1. Re: [LOVE] Jno LOVE m. ? Ingraham late 1700s, NC
    2. Couple of thoughts. First, I don't believe James Love who married Mary Elizabeth Ingram had middle name Allison. The Allison family did not live in Brunswick County VA. They were, however, thick in Cabarrus, the place James Love ended up. The Allison naming came from a daughter of Darling Love who moved to AR. She wrote that her 'grandfather' was James Allison Love. We early believed that Darling's father was old James. His father was actually a younger James Love who married Mary Brooks. This younger James Love died about the same time as old James. He could have been the son of James who moved to Campbell County GA. He could be the son of Thomas who lived in Union County NC. He could have been the son of a son of old JAmes Love who died young and without record. But about the time this younger James Love was born, there were plenty of Allison in Mecklenburg/Cabarrus County NC. Polly Love who married the Honneycutt may very well fall into the same type of situation as Darling Love. Polly could be the daughter of James Love who moved to GA. In his will, this James mentioned unnamed children of his first wife. And there is always the possibility that that there was a Love, son of old James who died young and with children. One other possibility. We know nothing of James Love's son John in context of how he viewed things after his father became involved int the gold business. When old James died, did he leave anything to son John? Or to his grandchildren? Did they visit and stay in touch? Note that in 1850 or 1860, there is a (I think ) Thomas Love living in Union County who lists his place of birth as Wilkes County. Why is he there in Union County? During that time period, only our John Love's(son of old James) family were the only Love family living in Wilkes. So that leaves open a possibility. There are other LOVE who we cannot tie back to the tree. One is Martha, whose children died in the civil war. Charles Love of Union County NC helped her get back their belongings. There is John J. Love who lived in NC, SC and back in NC where he died in Mecklenburg. His son John C. Love served with him and Jonah Love in the civil war and went to the enemy at Bermuda 100. His last record was he being sent to Philly by orders of Major General U. S. Grant. Why would they send a private to Philly? ...no prisons there. A John C. Love appears in Philly about the same time. He is a land conveyancesor. In 1872, this same John C. Love (Of Philly!!!) turned around and purchased land surrounding Reed Gold mine in Cabarrus. Of this land was that adjoining the family cemetery near the river. He died, but deeded his land to daughter Elizabeth. She married the secretary of the Philadelphia Yacht Club. She too died, and her husband ended up selling the land back to folks in C! abarrus. So here to is a loose end that is clearly related. Sorry for the rambling, but there is so much that we almost can prove. > > From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> > Date: 2007/05/27 Sun PM 08:28:41 EDT > To: <LOVE-L@rootsweb.com> > Subject: Re: [LOVE] Jno LOVE m. ? There are older siblings that were married or living with other relatives. Olive was the youngest. I have a picture of her on her wedding day in 1865. She went by the nickname Ollie. Her parents, Samuel and Lydia died young and I think they might be buried in the Miller Cemetery along with Phoebe and Issac. I think the cemetery is on private property. There used to be headstones for Issac and Phoebe but not for Samuel and Lydia if they are buried there. Thanks, Sherlene Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There are two or three subscribers researching Isaac and Phoebe line... who are on the love list. also on that 1860 census aside from Olive age 10 born in MO there was a Margaret age 8 born in MO. Since Isaac was 78 and Phoebe age 66, Margaret must have been another grand daughter. Who were Margaret's parents? I sign my address so people will know who is writing. Eliza Pauline Turner was the 2nd wife of Samuel Sentell Love, SR. NOT Ingram/Ingraham Love. If you'll drop me a note at LLove1039@sbcglobal.net - I'll send you the entire email listing the line that I have as sent to me. It's way to long to post here. Thanks again for helping me spot my mistake. Amyone who picked up MY error - please forgive the error and correct it immediately. BTW - the children listed for Eliza were actually children of Ingram & sibs of Samuel Sentell.
