Someone - I forget who, was writing a book on John Love & Ann & family. ------------------ Hi Lou! Yes, we have 'talked' before. I'm looking forward to whatever you may have that might shed some light on this. I have very tentatively attached an Andrew Love and wife Catherine to my Robert as his parents. In the various census records, they all live in the same area and occasionally one or another of Robert's children are enumerated with Catherine of the Andrew Love family. I have the transcription of the will of Jane Love and she makes no mention of a still living husband so I see I'd better do some further research into the DOD of Robert. Robert was a tailor by trade and it seems ironic that James "The Weaver" might be his ancestor! 3. My husband is a LOVE, kit #*15354*. We have no LOVE matches that I know of. (Sigh). We have some evidence (weak but all I got) which suggests that our LOVES came to NC, modern day Ashe area, from Love's Run, MD circa 1760. Not sure who that would be, probably John LOVE who is the father to our earliest known William LOVE, b. 1776 NC. William had four children we know of, three girls and one boy. Lydia, Milly, Alecy and Caleb (b. 1800-1818). Probably more, all born in Grayson County, I THINK. Caleb had many children, Stephen, Byron, Ailsey, William, some I forget, and John Thomas, the baby. Most born in Kentucky, either in Laurel County (John Thomas) or Whitley County. John Thomas alone came back, though briefly enough, to NC with his parents when he was 14. He married a widow, Mary Ham Landreth, there and fathers two children, Wagoner Columbus Love and Virginia C. Love (who disappears). Columbus grows up there, his father moves back to Laurel County & marries Miranda Elizabeth.... um... forgot. Columbus marries Ham and they raise several kids there in Ashe County. Pearl, Harley, Mary, Lee (boy), Treely Vester (who went by Lester) and one more girl I don't remember. Columbus' first wife dies and he marries Sibbey Wallace/Walters? of Ashe. They have at least one more child, Walter. They live in Ashe and a short stint in WAVA. Lester aka Treely Vester marries Ortiz Emma Blevins and they move to Raleigh County, WVA so he can be a coal miner. This is my husband's grandfather. 1. Re: [LOVE] Hello DNA Cuzins
    2. Bill Love
    3. Lou: Thanks for getting something started again. I am still at a brick wall with my Love line. Looking at the DNA results, I do not see family lines for kit number 17651, which I match 24 out of 25 markers, or kit 42315, which I match 35 out of 37. I do not know who these people are, but would like to. I am kit number 8336. If you are kit 17651 or 42315 I would like to hear from you. Lou, you and I match on 23 out of 25 markers. My John Love ancestor is reported to have been born abt. 1775, and to have come to Chester District SC in 1806 from Scotland, but his father John Love may have been from the Dublin Ireland area. My guess is that he came to SC to be near relatives who were already there. He reportedly came with his brother Joseph, who lived on the NC/SC line, and had nine sons. John Love b. abt 1775, moved his family from SC to Madison Co. MS about 1830, where he bought land near Robert Love, a son of Alexander Love, who was born in PA, a son of Robert Love and Violet Wilson, I think. This part is from memory. John Love b. 1775 died and was buried on the Love family place at Sand Flat, Loves Creek, Madison Co MS, before 1840, I think. My great-great-grandfather, John Love, was born July 22, 1808, in, we think, Chester District, SC. His mother, Mary Dixon or Dickson, is reported to be buried in Chester, SC. John Love, b. 1808, m. Mary Hurst in 1834 in Madison Co. MS, and moved to TX in 1848 after selling his land. He bought land in Williamson Co. TX in 1852, and settled there. Mary Hurst Love d. 1850 in Bastrop Co. TX. I would like to hear from anyone whose DNA is a close match to kit 8336. I have already corresponded with several of you, but it never hurts to touch base again. Thanks. Wierman Sent: Friday, June 08, 2007 1:07 PM Subject: Hello DNA Cuzins I don't know why I haven't done this before - Failed to see your email addresses or the site has changed so that it's more visible... Whatever!! You'll notice I'm sending this to the list as well as individually. Trying to help Mary stir up some list activity. Some of us have talked before, even recently. Others I have not communicated with, as far as my feeble memory serves. AND I recently had my computer go down and for some reason my correspondence log in my genealogy backup isn't there. SO lets begin again. Let's compare notes on our lines and see if we can find our common ground. Who's your earliest ancestor ? - Mine - James Love, "the weaver" [I just sent my entire line to the list] Where ? - he's thought to have been b in Scotland or Ireland in When ? 1704/5 Early on in my research, I assumed James father was a James as well due to "Naming Patterns" - Oldest son being named for paternal grandfather, etc. Then, for the longest time I thought his father might be Robert Love, who left a will in Pa. 1741 & mar. 3 times. There is a biography by William Calhoun Love who visited "Kin" in Miss. [sons & Grandsons of William "English Bill" Love and Thomas Love who marr. into the Chickasaw Nation]. Wm. Calhoun Love was a descendant [it appears] of this Robert of 1741 will. Now it appears DNA evidence rules this OUT. CONFUSION REIGNS !! Now I'm wondering if I weren't correct in my original assumption that James is "the weavers" father. What are your brickwalls ? - The parents of James is just ONE of my brickwalls. Many of my research lines are blocked by unknown lastnames for wives of the male. Does anyone have a secret for finding these "lost" women. They are referred to by given name only [if at all] in wills, and marriage certs have proven impossible to locate. BTW - I have over 60,000 folks in my research database - Lots of LOVEs ! and collateral lines. In MY Love Line database I have over 30,000 connections - so I've got a lot of data collected over the years. My line is pretty well documented - others are a COLLECTION of the work of others and not personally documented by me. I share it in that vein - it's a lead - CHECK IT OUT TO VERIFY IT. Hope to hear more from you LOVE CUZINS> Love, Lou

    3. Hi Lisa - You need to find a LOVE - a brother to your grandmother or one of his sons - to be tested. This Y-DNA test is of some male dominant gene passed from father to son - much like the mitochondrial DNA is passed from mother to daughter. [I think I've got this right] If this is wrong - don't hesitate to speak up out there ... Love, Lou Lisa Shaffer <officmgr@sssnet.com> wrote: My grandmother on my father's side is a Love. 1. [LOVE] DNA Testing
    2. Carla Love Maitland
    3. To the LOVE List: My brother, Richard Enloe LOVE, took the Y-DNA test about three years ago, and our kit # is 14108. We did not match with anyone for the longest time. Then Tom LOVE, whose kit # is 17158, also tested, and we were a match. Although we have not been able to link up our two families, we know that they were in the same neck-of-the-woods around the same times. And, most importantly, we KNOW that we are related by blood! It is very important for any family researcher to do DNA testing because it can broaden search horizons (as has happened to us), and it can confirm without a doubt the connections to ancestors that you think you might have made. My earliest confirmed ancestors include: Samuel LOVE, b. abt 1686, probably in Charles Co., MD. He died before Dec. 8, 1772, at "Eagleton," Westwood Manor, Charles Co., MD. He married Mary ABBOTT, b. abt 1694 in Charles Co., MD. She also died before 1772 in Charles Co. We think that his parents were Thomas LOVE and Lucia DOBSON, and that Thomas' parents were William LOVE, who probably came to Maryland sometime in the 1660s, and Judith GERARD. The children of Samuel LOVE and Mary ABBOTT include the following people: 1 Samuel Love 1686 - 1772 .... +Mary Abbott 1694 - 1772 . 2 Charles Love 1714 - 1772 ..... +Mary Harris 1714 - 1769 . 2 Samuel Abbott Love, Sr. 1718 - 1787 ..... +Mary Briscoe 1715 - 1747 . *2nd Wife of Samuel Abbott Love, Sr.: ..... +Elisabeth Thomas 1714 - . 2 William Augustine Love 1720 - 1755 ..... +Elizabeth Scott 1726 - . 2 Elizabeth Jane Love 1720 - 1772 ..... +Peter Urquhart . *2nd Husband of Elizabeth Jane Love: ..... +George Cole . 2 Joseph "Jose" Love 1721 - 1776 . 2 Phillip Love 1722 - 1772 . 2 Nancy Love 1731 - 1772 ..... +Thomas Reeder 1723 - 1790 Tom LOVE's ancestors begin with Granville LOVE, b. April 7, 1815, who married Jane GRANGER, b. Oct. 1822. Both of our families would LOVE for other male LOVEs to do DNA testing to see if we have other matches out there. The best way to link up families is to do it through DNA. I hope that more of you will consider that option! Best of luck to all in your research. 3. OK, my dig got some list activity. I want to remind everyone do not click on reply because that comes to the person who posted and not to the list. Address each email to the List. Love@rootsweb.com I had thought, and maybe I was wrong, that when we started the ydna study ,people broke off into little related groups. Apparently not true since Lou belongs to the biggest group and he isn't sure who all he matches. One or two don't match a Love at all . We need more Love men to test to try and find an adoption or problem somewhere in that line. This list is about genealogy and for those of you who wonder if DNA really has anything to do with genealogy, it has everything to do with it. Some of us ladies have to try and get brothers, cousins or even 3rd or 4th cousins to test and try and tie into a line. My line is from my grandfather Hiram Brown Love to his father John D. Love of AL. to his father William Byler Love to his father John Love/Orpha Dungan and to Joseph Love/Mary Teas. Yet there may be problems with that line. I think two men have tested who descend from Joseph Love/Mary Teas son Samuel and they did match. There is still much research needed. I would like to know. If you are a male LOVE who do you descend from and have you tested and did you find a match? If you are a female with a male Love in your family , have they tested, will they test? I think Fred has volunteered to take over the YDNA pages. Francis has done a good job and deserves lots of Thanks for a job well done. Maybe in a few weeks Fred will make an announcement if he does this and at that time we may need more of you to write to him with information about your line. Meanwhile we have the list and we can get it back to working again. My fear is that Ancestry may take the lists away if we don't continue using them. I hope that fear is unfounded. I work full time now (changed jobs 6 months ago) and just do not have the time or energy to keep it updated. I will make a real effort to update but I've said that for the last year. I know my GG-father was born in Scotland his name was John Drayton Love (he was a minister), his wife was Florence They had a son Cecil John Drayton,b: 1896(my grandfather),a son Stuart Menzies b1899(the one I'm looking for) and a daughter Jean. The family moved to Canada in the early 1900's from England and I beleive Jean was born there. Stuart went into the army in 1918 and his mother last hear from him via a letter sent from New York. And as I am going to hazard a guess that he was a Floridian or Georgian. I'm leaning more towards Florida though as to which state he was from Claude Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He was married to my maternal grandmother, Juanita Eugenia Clanton (b abt 1921 d May 1954) and I think they were married somewhere around 1937 or 1938 They had 2 children my uncle Charles B Clanton (b 1940) and my mother Mary Elizabeth (Clanton) Perry (b 21 Sept, 1942). I'm basically looking to start with when he was born and died and actual date of his marriage to Juanita and who his parents were. Any information about his Family Tree prior to his birth would be a welcome plus.
