    2. About the LOVES, Please tell me. Maybe there is some connection to my David Love of Ga. who was b. in NC. The family later (2 or 3 generations down the line) moved to Ala (mostly Lowndes and Dallas County, some in Montgomery) Related names were ROGERS GREENWOOD and NORTON. David Love fought in the Revolutionary War. Any possible connections? Caroline Burnett Cook

    2. Hi, Hope some one out there can help me. Am trying to find a connection of any kind. My ancestors were FLEEHART, STEWART, WHITESIDES, BEALE AND LOVE. Now the problem is who and where the Loves come in. I do know that one of the Fleehart girls middle name was Love , Maragaret Love Fleehart she was born in 1854 to Hugh and Abigail Fleehart in Rush Co, Ind. I do know the Fleeharts came from Penn., to Washington co Ohio to Kentucky to Clark co., Ind. to rush Co, Ind. I also know there was a Joshua Fleehart who in 1805 was near a family of Loves in Kentucky. This family was murdered by the Harps in or near Ohio co. in Kentucky. The stegal name also comes in and how Joshua ran away with a Maddox girl and her brother came after them, and killed Joshua supposedly. If anny one knows of any ofthis please let me know. Thanks Lyda FLEEHART LOEHRING

    2. Hi Mickey, Let me know if you get a bite. I have written a Love man and he knows of three John Loves in SC. He thinks ours could be one he knows. I have printed out the letter but have not witten him back. I need to copy it for you. I have tried to forward things to you but your server will not deliver them. Subj: John Love Date: 97-06-04 23:21:04 EDT From: malove@tenet.edu Reply-to: malove@tenet.edu To: GaleFuller@aol.com (Gale Fuller) Hi Gale, Thanks for the note. I'm always on the look out for new info. or new Love lines. I have several John Loves in my line. The names John,William & Samuel are certainly plentiful in this Love family. I. John Love-son of Joseph H. Love,Sr. & Margaret Bryan.Born 1746 in VA(?). II. John Wilson Love(II)-son of Joseph B. Love & Rebecca McElroy. Born in 1830 in TN(?). III. John Wilson Love-son of Joseph Love III & Martha Wilson. Born in 1808 in VA(?),died 1871 in ?.Brother of above Joseph B. Love. Married Martha Wharton. As you see, the name Joseph is also BIG in the family. The Joseph group forms my direct line. Other than the info. I jotted above, I have nothing else on the Johns. I'm convinced that some of the early Loves migrated into the Carolinas and Georgia, so South Carolina is really not out of the question. There were three distinct migration patterns in the family: one north & west, one mid country to Tennesee, Arkansas,& Oklahoma, and one south to Carolinas,Georgia, Alabama and Texas. I'm of the "Texas Boys". The death date for your John Love seems reasonable for the John Love (I) above. Please, let's keep this line of communication open. This might be the very info. I need. Bill Love Now I will do the others I have tried to send to you. I do not know that I have ever heard of James Love. I also thank you for the information on the Love page. I am going out of town for 4 days and will shut things down but will sign up when I get back. Thank you. I do not have a son named William for John Royall Love. My ancestor is Milton Royall Love and I need to check and see if any of the papers I have has any other children listed. I see a Lucinda but am not sure this is a sister of Milton Royall's. How do you know of a son William? You are so knowledgable on the Love family. I need to learn more from you! Please bear with me as I get to this line. I really do want to learn more as well as share what I have. I only go back to John but that does >not mean that is can not be proven that he is decended from Joseph! I would >certainly like to try. I'm sure that your John Royal Love is not a son of Joseph Love. I have one source that says John Royal Love was a son of James Love: James1 Love - married Martha ______; came to southern Pennsylvania from County Antrim, Ireland by 1737. Moved to York or Chester County, SC at least by 1755; wrote his will in 1760. The now famous Lockhart clothing mills began with old James' weaving looms , this trade passed down to his grandchildren who married Lockharts. But it makes more sense to go with your source which sayd that John Royal Love was a son of John Love who married Elizabeth Royal. Your John Royal Love had a son, William. Do you know the name of William's wife? To subscribe to the Love List: 1. send a message to: LOVE-L-request@rootsweb.com 2. leave the subject blank; 3. put the word "subscribe" (no quotation marks) in the message area with nothing else. I'm going to put the information about Joseph Royall in a separate message. Gale --------------------- Forwarded message: From: dcollins@execpc.com (Don Collins) To: GaleFuller@aol.com Date: 97-05-27 11:08:57 EDT Gale, Here is an abstract of the information about Joseph Royall from Cavaliers and Pioneers by Nugent. ________________ 15 Aug 1637: Joseph Royall granted 300 acres in Henrico Co at S.C. side of Turkey Island Creek for his having paid the transportation of himself, his first wife, Thomasin, his present wife, Ann, his brother Henry, and two other persons: Robert Warwell and Jon. Wells. 4 May 1638: Joseph Royall was granted 200 acres in Charles City County in Diggs hundred. (transportation of four persons) 20 Aug 1642: Joseph Royall was granted 600 acres bounding on the land of Edward Madded above Shirley Hundred, north and east on the river to Dockman's Creek, adj. Daniell Lewellin. (transportation of 12 persons) 20 Apr 1680: Capt. Wm. Randolph, Mr. Fra. Epps & Mr. Jos. Royall were granted 580 acres commonly called Capt. Martin's Swamp, south side of James River in Henrico County, adj. land of sd. royall & Capt. Henry Isham. (for transportation of 12 persons. 1 Apr 1690: Mr. Richard Kennon, Capt. Francis Epes, Mr. Joseph Royall & Mr. George Archer were granted 2827 acres in Henrico County in Bristoll Parish on north side of Appamattox River, beginning at mouth of a gr. Creek to the main river. Date blank, but proved 1 Apr 1690. (For transportation of 57 Negroes). 8 Apr 1729: Col. William Randolph was granted 900 acres (lapsed land) in Henrico Co. on north side of Appamattox River; adj. Col. Francis Epes; Joseph Royal & Col. George Archer. Granted Joseph royal 22 Jan 1717, on conditionof seating &c., who, by will devised sd. land to Joseph Royal, Henry Royal, William Royal & Richard Dennis who failed to make such seating, &c. My guess is that only the first three entries above relate to the original Joseph Royall and that the last three are for a son, Joseph. 2. Dear Mary, About all these DAVID LOVEs: . My David Love is COL DAVID LOVE of the Rev. War who married Jean or Jane Blount. (1740-1798).They were married in NC in 1772.However, Va and NC were changing borders for a good while so I take the state with a grain of salt. He was born in Anson County NC and died in Greensboro, Ga. For a time he had living with him a young adult cousin or nephew ALSO named DAVID LOVE who is said to have run away from his father in NC because he couldn't get along with his stepmother. Does anyone know about THIS DAVID? Could he be the one you are speaking of ? Caroline Burnett Cook

    3. Welcome to the LOVE mailing list! You are currently subscribed in "mail mode", which means that you will receive every posting made to LOVE as a separate e-mail. The directions on how to change to digest mode are given below. 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to LOVE-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and no additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to LOVE-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are two steps. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to LOVE-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to LOVE-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to LOVE-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both.
