She married William Ragsdale (b.ca. 1798 SC also) bef. 1817 and they moved by 1830 to Shelby County, Alabama. She is last found on 1860 Shelby Co. Alabama census. Her husband evidently d. by 1850 as she is hh head on that census. On 1840 census there is an A. Love living next door to William Ragsdale. He might be a widower with children and is listed in 40-50 age group. He has a female also in the hh with him who is given as 60-70 - wife or mother? Need help on this Love family and would like to know her brother A. and also her parents. She is given on census as Elizabeth. Contact Lisa Kight at lisacsa@aol.com. Thanks for any help!

    3. O.K., I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I'd repost this: Looking for info on the family of William C. Love b. 1903 on a houseboat in the middle of the Mississippi River by Shreveport, LA. His father was Chastine T. Love, listed on a census as being from North Carolina. The same census indicated his parents were from Ireland, but gave no names. Chastine married Mary Fannie Dial, daughter of John Hasten or Hastings Dial. The Dials also came from North Carolina. Need any info on Chastine and Mary. Mary managed a boarding house in what is now downtown Shreveport for a few years. The family also lived in Oil City. Lindsey D. Love

    1. Re: LOVE-D Digest V97 #25
    2. All. I don't mean to start anything, but when we get a message with an attachment from someone we don't know, even a list, I would like to know if those files have been scanned. Sometimes I get a message that I am d/l-ing them at my own risk. I delete the messages then and there. So I know that I am missing what might be good mail, good information, good references, good contacts. When there is no person's name, not even an ID, at the top, how do we know where it is coming from. In this case, it is the name of the list.... I have been researching my family lines for many years, and I have always loved to get new information and make new contacts, I have helped people wherever I could, but I don't know how to handle this. I am concerned about this and I would love to have an answer. Thanks. Alice in Houston

    1. Re: John William LOVE (b. 1876)
    2. Have you tried writing to Love Letters? It is a newsletter for Love family researchers. It is $15.00 a year and is a great resource. If you are interested, I will give you the address to write. Also, I recommend you go to your local book store and buy the book, The Genealogist's Address Book. It has addresses to archives and historical and genealogical associations all over the country. Once you get that book, look up the state and local organizations in the areas your ancestors lived, were born, married and died. Contact them, and if they can't help you, they can certainly point you in the right direction.
