    3. A Yoeman in England in colonial times was a farmer who owned his own land. Most farmers leased there land and land ownership gave certian priviledges and stature in society. Cf. beef-eater. --yeoman's (or yeoman) service, good, useful or substantial service: as "I once did hold it...a baseness to write fair...but, sir, lnow It did me yeoman's service (Shakspere's (sic) "Hamlet," v. 2.36). -- yeomanly, a. Of the condition or rank of a yeoman; pertaining to or befitting a yeoman. -- yeomanly, adv. Like or as befits a yeoman. --yeomanry, n. Yeoman collectively; hence, a British volunteer cavalry force, orig. composed of yeomen farmers, and county gentlemen, which now forms part of the British Territorial Army. --yeowoman, n.; pl. -women (-wim"en). However, they did have the use of different fonts to indicate unusual spelling, etc. I don't have that. Hope this helps you. 3. Does anyone know any information on the Love family around the DelMarVa peninsula and Washington, DC in the 1700's to 1800's. I have a Sarah Love married a William Good in 1798. Her son, Thomas Garner Good lived in Georgetown, Washington, DC during the Civil War. One of his daughter's met her Confederate suiters on the back porch while another entertained her Union suiters on the front porch. Sarah's mother's name was Sarah Garner. Does anyone know about these families? I have some information on my Love ancestors in York, PA. Are these families related? Paul Redden http://users.inna.net/~redden

    3. Isaac Love married in TN to Phoebe Connelly, ca 1809. They had several children in TN, then moved to Floyd Co, IN where their youngest Robert A., was born in 1832. In 1830 I found an Isaac Love with children appropriate to this Isaac in Vermilion CO IL Census. Does anyone know about the Isaac in Vermilion Co IL? If they were in IL in 1830, why the backward trek to IN in 1832? By about 1839 they were in the Pulaski, (now Maries/Phelps Co) MO area. Unable to locate their marriage, or any information on their travels through IN & IL. Any help appreciated. Judy Germann

    1. Jackson LOVE
    2. I am trying to find information about my g.grandfather, Jackson Love. He was born about 1866 (because he was 44 at the 1910 census) in Mississippi. He married Mattie Sellers in 1904 in Simpson County, MS. His parents were born in South Carolina (again according to the 1910 census). He was living in Simpson County, MS with his wife Mattie, a son Vardaman, a daughter Jewell and his wife's brother in 1910. He paid local taxes in 1904, 1906, 1909 and 1910 but not 1911. My g. aunt (Jewell) believes he died about 1913 or so but no death certificate was shown in the state records for him at that time. I have no knowledge of where he is buried or what his parents names might be. Any help would be appreciated. Please contact me at : RPLOWERY@AOL.COM Thanks.

    2. Ruth Hesterly
    3. Hello Everyone, I am researching my LOVE and MAYNARD lines. I am looking for Francis MAYNARD (b. abt. 1885) and his wife Janet LOVE (b. abt. 1890). They had two children, Francis, Jr. and Janet Frances (b. 1921). Francis, Sr. died from illness (I believe that it was an influenza epidemic) about 1928. Janet remarried, and had at least two more children, but I can not find my notes on that marriage right now. I have no further information on Francis, Jr., but Janet married Hubert Henry KOCH (b. 1913) and they had seven children. My mother is the third child.
