Jeremiah Love 45, a farmer born in NY Hannah Love, 47 born in CT. Ezriah, 16, laborer born in PA, 11th. year in school John Love, 14, born in PA. Leander Love 13, born in NY? (that's how it is listed) Nelson C. Love 9, born in PA. I don't know if Leander is a son and his mother was in NY at the time he was born, or if he might be a nephew or other realtive, OR if this information in the census is incorrect. I am looking for siblings of Clinton Love who was born in 1804 in NY. He had a sons named John, Jeremiah, George, Henry and Albert. We suspect John may have been the name of his father, but he could have had a brother named Jeremiah. We have been searching for so long, that we have to play all the longshots. Do you have any information about Jeremiah and Hannah Love, and who his parents/siblings might have been? Thanks, Shirley

I have only been able to get back to 1804, when my great-great grandfather, CLINTON LOVE, was born in New York on July 4th. I do not know who his parents were. I do know that Clinton married Mary Elizabeth Stocker and they had the following children: LUCRETIA LOVE (born 1827/died 1850) married Nathan Codner CLARISSA LOVE (born 1828/died n/a) married Gilbert Tuttle JOHN LOVE (born 1831/died 1864 in Civil War) married Polly Porter RACHEL JANE LOVE (born 1833/died1876) married James Erckenbrack JEREMIAH LOVE (born 1835/died 1920) married Phoebe Alvira Runyan GEORGE WASHINGTON LOVE (born 1837/died1914) married Fidelia King/Carolyn Rathbun ALIDA LOVE (born 1839/died 1929) married Edwin Runyan/Joseph Allbee MARY LYDIA LOVE (born 1844/died n/a) married Orvil Dickson/David Quackenbush HENRY CLINTON LOVE (born 1848/died 1933) married Susan Palmer ALBERT LOVE (born 1850/died 1939) married Abby Scovil/Effie Travis In the 1840's the family migrated from New York and settled for a while in Wisconsin where Clinton died in 1874, and is buried in Ridge Cemetery, Clinton, Vernon, Wisconsin. Mary moved on with her son JEREMIAH LOVE (my great-grandfather), to Brown County, Kansas, where she died in 1889 and is buried in Sabetha, Nemaha, Kansas. From there, JEREMIAH LOVE took his sons, GEORGE and FRANK LOVE to make the land run in Oklahoma known as the "Cherokee Strip" in 1893. JEREMIAH, GEORGE and FRANK LOVE all settled on farmland near Blackwell and Braman, Oklahoma, in Kay County. Some of the Loves lived/settled in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma and Kansas and most likely a few never left New York. No telling where they have scattered by now! After some recent research by a few cousins and myself, we have found that Mary’s maiden name was most likely spelled Stalker. We believe her family was from the Albany, New York, area where her father John Stalker (Mother’s name was Clarisa Bradt) was found in the 1810 and 1820 census. If you recognize any of these names, we are probably from the same LOVE line. I would appreciate any information you may have on this family. Thanks! Linda Mae Te (LOVE) [email protected]

I am digging through stuff trying to make sense out of the masses of papers and books I have. In a letter by Franklin Dederick Love in Vol 1 page 87 of Love Letters by Jolee Love he says. ( in 1929) There were 4 brothers named Love who settled Augusta Co. VA. Their families emigrated westward and southward. SAMUEL Love was my great-great-grandfahter: JOSEPH Loves descendants went south and one of them married Joe Brown, War Governor of Georgia: WILLIAM Love went into east Tennessee and was the father of Joseph, probably the first sheriff of Knox County TN. Samuel and Isaac (who were ) ROBERT'S descendants , I have not been able to trace......................... ---------------- Here is a family history stating that SAMUEL, JOSEPH, WILLIAM AND ROBERT were brothers. Why didn't he name their father??????? The Joseph Love who's descendant married the Brown was Joseph/Mary Teas. line would go from their daughter Esther /William Steele... their daughter Mary Love Steele/Joseph Gresham>>> their daughter Elizabeth Gresham who married Joseph Brown. We have thought all along that Samuel.Dorcas Bell , and Joseph / Mary Teas were brothers. Who can tell us more about William Love and Robert? or Robert's descendants Samuel and Isaac? This , like other early works may have been disproved is so tell us about it. Mary Harkey Russell [email protected] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bird
