This gentleman saw me mention the Love list on the Listowners list and kindly sent me this message: Are you interested in information on Thomas Love. He was a refugee Tory from VA who settled among the Chickasaw Indians in 1782. His father was William Love. He married 1st Sally Colbert 1/2 Chickasaw, then full blood Chickasaw, Emahota. Between the 2 wives he fathered 8 sons and 5 daughters. > His family became one of the most prominent families in OK Indian Territory after the removal from MS. The Love country stores you see throughout OK and TX are owned by descendants of this family. Love county OK was named for this family also. > > I'm not related, but have this information on my Bryan County OK archives website. > > You can post this to your Love list if you wish and anyone can contact me for exact locations of the files. > Gene Phillips [email protected] > >

I was recently provided a photo of Ella and have a photo of her and her husband Henry Benton Clark's graves in Horton, KS. Does anyone who's related have any family photos of the Loves either individually or as a family group that they are willing to share? I'd like to see what the rest of Ella's family looks like if I can. I have shots of Ella's family too that I am willing to share in return. Also, I too have heard persistant rumors as to Indian blood in the family. I came across a 1910 Brown Co, Ks Mission Township census where it looks as if it reads that Ella's father was born an Indian. It could be that it is actually Indiana (which I know isn't true) but to my eyes it sure looks more like Indian than Indiana as it is written. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] Thanks, Beverly
