    3. Hi Pat, Do try find out if Rev. Don Love participated in the study. He had voiced a desire to do so. And if so, his data could be used as one source to verify your line. He descends from John C. Love, brother of James II. I would participate, but being a Thomas, my direct paternal line would not be very supportive of the research. Also, I have a picture of my ancestor Jonah Askew Love. He is the son of Jonah and nephew of your Charles. And I have a photo of Charles's daughter Elizabeth. A family trait that is real and am sure genetically passed down is one of a "lazy eye." In both photographs, Jonah Askew and Elizabeth appear to have this trait. And Jonah Askew's nephew was John Epraim "good eye" Love. Does this trait pass down in your lines in TX? 2. Mary Harkey Russell
    3. I am delighted to see matches being made on our Love DNA study. The 25 marker test is the best and from the looks of the page it looks like two more of our guys should up grade to that test. It is bothering me that only one person from the Lines of Samuel Love/Dorcas Bell and Joseph Love/Mary Teas line,Have done the test Of course I have selfish motives. If someone from Samuel Love /Dorcas Bell line would test that would at least tell us if they were brothers. Any people on the list who know any Male descendents of Samuel and Joseph-- PLEASE Suggest to them that they consider this test. 1. [LOVE-L] John Love 1776 ---Male Lines
    2. Mary Harkey Russell
    3. in trying to follow the Males of a family of Loves I find that I have too many men without heirs in my genealogy. With us doing a DNA study it seems that we may be missing too many men to provide good paper documentation for some of the lines. I was trying to trace descendants of Joseph Love /Mary Teas by looking at my data. Going from Joseph Love to his son Samuel who married Mary Lane and Mary Polly Smith. I have no children with Mary Smith and Samuel was 67 so maybe there wasn't any with her, but With Mary Lane he had a fairly large family. his son Robert Love born 1774--- I have no heirs. His son William born 1775 ---- I have no heirs. His son John is the one married Nancy "Milly" McSpaddin and they had sons. I will follow that line-- they had Pleasant McSpadden Love and he had sons among them James Newton Armstrong Love born 1838 and I have that they had 8 children. Were any of them sons ? Hannibal Jasper Love born 1843 had two sons Henry Elijah Love- and Thomas Love . I have nothing on Thomas but Henry Elijah had sons---Some I have wives for but only Clarence Kenneth Love , do I have a note saying-- Info database of LoveBobLouis.FTW So which one of you did I get that GED file from that I named Love Bob Louis. ? And have any Males from this line done the DNA test? Mary Harkey Russell [email protected] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bird

Second wife was Elizabeth N Barker (1855) and there twelve children from this marriage. My great grandfather was the third child, James Burel Love. John and Elizabeth moved to Jackson Township, St Clair Co, Missouri 1854/55 and all twelve children were born there. Surnames: Love/Lockert Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Xcx.2ACIB/1718.1.1.1 Message Board Post: I think this may be the Love family that I'm looking for. I'm seeking ancestry info for my gg grandmother, Margaret Jane Love. She was born in South Carolina about 1821; married in Pickens County, Alabama around 1840 to John Calvin Gilbert; and died in Mississippi in 1888. Gilbert family researchers say that she may have had a brother named Elvin, and for this reason, I believe that she was the daughter of John Lockert Love and Malinda Horton, who had a son named Elvin Elmotum Love. Also, John Lockert Love died in Pickens County, Alabama, so the proximity of that location to the location of Margaret Jane Love and John Calvin Gilbert's marriage is another clue. John Lockert Love was the son of James Love and Janet Lockert. I cannot find any information about Margaret Jane Love in the family trees or records of these families, however. Any help is appreciated.

I do have photos of graves. Hoping for some help in getting this info to as many people as I can to maybe close some gaps in their research. Becky Love

    1. [LOVE-L] Eliza Matilda Lee LOVE (Richard Hendly LOVE and Gen. John LOVE)
    2. Carla Maitland
    3. Thanks Judy for your census information. Eliza and Richard LOVE did indeed have a daughter, Cecilia, who was married to Brigadeer General Lewis Armistead, C.S.A. He would die in 1863 at Gettysburg. She was obviously living with them for a while in 1850 while Armistead was stationed at Ft. Snelling. Her husband, Richard, had died in 1832. She lived most of the last 40 years of her life with her daughter, Flora, who married Rev. William Johnson. The "W.K" in the census record was Walker Keith Armistead, born December 11, 1844. He would also serve in the Confederate Army. Good evening, I knew I had picked up a piece of this puzzle at one time, it just took a couple of days to "unfile" it. I found Eliza Matilda Love in the 1850 census (Minnesotal Territorial) Dakotah County, the Garrison at Ft. Snelling House 77/family 79 Armstead, Maj. Lewis 33 NC Army Officer Cecelia L. 27 VA W. K. 4 VA (female) Hendricks, Mary 32 Wisc Geo. 1 Minn (male) Love, E. M. 60 VA I was reading this census for a completely different family when I saw this and made note of it. Judy > Hello LOVE List: > This is written in response to Shirley's query regarding Gen. John H. LOVE and Richard Hendly (Hendley) LOVE. Richard LOVE was born about 1778 in VA and did indeed serve in the military, or more specifically the Virginia militia. He did not, however, appear to have a very lengthy military career. > On pages 291 and 292 of The Lee Chronicle, Studies of the Early Generations of the Lees of Virginia by Cazenove Gardner LEE, Jr., LOVE's wife, Eliza Matilda LEE (granddaughter of Richard Henry LEE) described her husband's brief career in the VA militia during the War of 1812. > She declares, "after law and order were once more restored....Mr. Love's company was detailed to look after the British prisoners, who after six weeks were exchanged, and he came home. Thus ended his military career." > Eliza always refers to her husband as "Mr. Love," never using a military title. Furthermore, Eliza did not mention in her "Reminiscences" any previous marriage of her husband's. It is possible, of course, that she purposely left out any mention of such, but we have no record of a prior marriage in our family. Eliza's reflections appeared to be fairly straightforward, and I tend to think that she would have mentioned a previous wife. > I hope that this information helps in some way! > > Carla Love Maitland > Memphis, TN > [email protected] > Genealogist: One who confuses the dead and irritates the living.
