    1. [LOVE-L] Robert and sons John and Samuel of Northumberland Co., PA.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xcx.2ACIB/1958 Message Board Post: John Love, Revolutionary Soldier lived in Northumberland Co, PA. when he enlisted and he applied for his pension in 1840 in Onondaga County, NY. He stated that his father, Robert Love and his family lived in Deer Twnshp in Northumberland in 1780 and he was living in Chester Co at that time, but he returned to Northumberland and enlisted as a substitute for his father. John Love was born May 14, 1764 and on pension application stated that he had a brother, Samuel of Wayne Twnshp, PA who had the family bible. Samuel Love was living in Lycoming Co., PA. in 1833 and was 64 years old. John's widow, Mary Love applied in 1847 at Ovid, NY, so it goes without saying that he died between 1840 and 1847, probably in NY. I would like to make contact with descendants of either of these brothers or anyone from the line of this Robert Love, and I wonder if the family Bible is still in existence. I would love to have some of the information from that Book. Thanks for any information of any kind! I am at a brickwall, and maybe this line could help me get over it. Shirley

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xcx.2ACIB/1956 Message Board Post: Orie and Ruth Orrell Love are buried in the Corzine Cemetery in Sumner Co., KS. Orie Jr. is the descendant of Pleasant Love and Emma Stubbs. My husband and his brother recall family reunions of their childhood held in Conway Springs, Sumner Co., KS. I would like to know the ties, if any, between our Love family and those in Conway Springs. I believe Orie and Ruth had a son and two daughters, but their names are unknown to me. Orie Nelson and Fayrah Haines, the parents of Orie Jr. had (from online, unconfirmed sources) Viola, Doris, William Nelson, Virginia Mae, Virgil Ernest, and one other child in addiion to Orie Jr. Allied family names include Bates, Murry, Carter, Gross, Gerberding, Lawrenz, and Curless. There is a Marshall Love who is on the Board of the Corzine Cemetery. I wonder if he is tied to Orie and Ruth....maybe their son. I am very interested in locating some members of this line of Loves to see if we can make any connections. Our line was in NY to WI, to KS, and OK. Any help will be appreciated. Shirley Love

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Xcx.2ACIB/1952 Message Board Post: >From the abstracts of Revoluntionary War Pension Files we find: Love, John #6468 RI Line. A granddaughter, Phoebe King of McKean Co., PA aged 70 made affidavit 3 April, 1854 and stated she was born in the family of the soldier John Love and lived in said family until 1797 when soldier died in Kent County, RI and where he had lived during the Rev. War. (Soldier was born in RI.) Soldier's widow, Lovina Love died in Kent Co., RI. (No death date of age given for widow.) Can anyone tell me which John Love this might be? Was he the son of Adam, Gabriel, William, or some other Love? The Irish immigrants settled in Coventry, Kent, RI for a while; and there was a John Love, son of Adam, who married Lavinia Tree, but I am almost certain he is not this soldier, in spite of the similar spelling of the wife's names. I need help in identifying the father of the soldier as well as his son (the father of Phoebe Love King.) Thanks for any and all help. Shirley

    2. Mary and other Love researchers, from Joseph William (Bill) Love, Jr., (III), Galveston, TX. In response to your questions about the DNA testing, I am glad that we are doing this. I have found that I am a very close match at 25 markers to both Lou Love of Houston, and Gerald Love of Alabama, both of whom trace their ancestry to one of the Love brothers who came to PA in the early 1700's. Gerald and I have exchanged photos of our fathers when they were in their early twenties, and they resemble enough to be brothers. My family history says that my John Love ancestor came to America in 1806, to South Carolina. I have not been able to find ships records to show this 1806 arrival, but I have long believed that my ancestor brought his family to South Carolina because he already had relatives living there. Since both Lou and Gerald had Love ancestors in SC at about that same time, it seems logical that these may have been relatives of my John Love. I am now trying to link my ancestor to the Love brothers who came to PA in the 1700's through Scotish and Irish records. That is likely where the link will be, if my family history is correct.

    1. [LOVE-L] Love DNA
    2. Mary Harkey Russell
    3. I have just looked at the tests that we have completed at this time. I think this Y-DNA testing has been an eye opener for quite a few of us. I know it has really surprised me. A few years ago many of us thought if we did enough paper work we could find that illusive Robert Love with his 3 wives and his 3 families. We thought most of us were related. Surprise ! Surprise ! The Y-DNA test is showing us how wrong we were. For those who have found matches it gives them direction that the didn't have before . I think it would be interesting for the list members if some of you who have been tested would tell the rest of us what you found out that was new to you? What surprised you? How has it benefited you? Do your think the test is a valuable resource ? Mary Harkey Russell [email protected] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bird

    1. [LOVE-L] kit #9411 DNA Results
    2. Frances Love
    3. We received our results back on my husband's test. I am still excited about the DNA testing but disappointed that our family has not found a match in the Loves that have participated so far. I was looking online at some posted family histories of my William Love. [The story passed down has been his mother died, his father remarried and he was mistreated by his step-mom so William ran away.] One person had posted William's middle name as Barnwell (most people use Barnell). I had a flash that perhaps his mother's maiden name was Barnwell. So I began searching for a Barnwell that married a Love. One such was Joseph and Mary Teas', grandson John. The dates didn't quite match up and not matching with kit #8299 (A Joseph Love/Mary Teas descendant) shows that it was just wishful thinking. Frances Love
