    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: Janet_Finney Surnames: Lorimer, Wallace, Weir, Wightman, McAdam, Bryden Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.lorimer/236/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I would like to have contact with anyone descended from or researching William Lorimer and his wife, Elizabeth Wallace. William (son of Robert Lorimer and Janet Weir) was baptized in 1773 in Kirkconnel Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland and died 31 January or 1 February 1856 at Knockenjig farm in Kirkconnel Parish. He was found dead in bed on February 1. Elizabeth Wallace was born in approximately 1777 and died 31 December 1844, age 67 and may have been the daughter of William Wallace and Mary Anderson. There is no marriage record for William and Elizabeth. They are buried in Kirkconnel Churchyard with some of their children. William is listed on the 1841 and 1851 census records at Knockenjig farm. Elizabeth is with him on the 1841 census but on the 1851 census his son James and family are living with him. The children of William Lorimer and his wife, Elizabeth Wallace were: Robert Lorimer, baptized 30 March 1806 in Kirkconnel Parish; died at Knockenjig 10 March 1827 age 20. William Lorimer, born August 1807 in Kirkconnel Parish, married Jane Wightman, died 28 October 1875 in Harlan County, Nebraska, USA. They had a large family. Janet Lorimer, baptized 21 November 1809 in Kirkconnel Parish, married John Milligan, died in 1850. Buried in Greenock, Renfrewshire, Scotland. They had a large family. Thomas Lorimer, baptized May 1812 in Kirkconnel Parish, married Isabella McAdam, died after April 1881. They had a large family. James Lorimer, born approximately 1816 in Kirkconnel Parish, married 7 May 1840 in Greenock, Renfrewshire to Isabella Bryden, died at Old Mill 3 March 1862. They had a large family. I am a descendant of James Lorimer and his wife, Isabella Bryden. I have done a lot of research on this family and have a lot of old photos I am willing to share with others.
