William (son of William Lorimer and his wife, Elizabeth Wallace) was born in approx. Aug 1807, probably at Knockenjig Farm, Kirkconnel Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He was baptized 3 January 1808 in Kirkconnel Parish. He died 28 Oct 1875 in Hazel Hall, Harlan County, Nebraska, USA. He married Jean/Jane Wightman (daughter of Alexander Wightman and his wife, Jean Bell) on 7 December 1828 in Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. She was born 4 June 1806, probably at Mid-Dalpedder farm, in Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, and she died 21 January 1851 at Auchensow Farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. She was buried in the Churchyard of the Parish Church in Sanquhar, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. The headstone states she died in 1852 but that is a mistake, based on the fact that William is listed as a widower on the ! 1851 census. On the 1851 census for Sanquhar Parish, living at Auchensow farm William was listed as a widower, age 41, farmer of 45 acres, born in Kirkconnel Parish. Also in the household were 6 of his children: Jean, age 19, unmarried, housekeeper; Elizabeth, age 16, unmarried, sewer; Alexander, age 14; Janet, age 12; William, age 10, scholar; John, age 7, scholar; Thomas, age 5, scholar. All the children were listed as being born in Sanquhar Parish. On the 1861 census William and his son Thomas are listed as living in Old Cumnock, Ayrshire. The children of William Lorimer and his wife, Jean Wightman were: - Alexander Lorimer, born 12 July 1828 at Auchensow farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire. He died before April 1836 and is probably buried in Sanquhar Churchyard with his parents. - Robert Lorimer, born 28 April 1830 (1828?) in Kirkconnel Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland; died 6 November 1895. He married Margaret Douglas in approx. 1849. They moved to Totnes, Devon, England. He is buried in Sanquhar, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. - Jean Lorimer, born 24 December 1830 & baptized 12 January 1831 in Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland ["1831 Janry 12 Jean, Lawful Daughter to William Lorimer and Jean Wightman, Auchensow, baptized this day, born 24th Decr. 1830"]; died 1917. She married Alexander Irving in approx. 1851. They lived in Tundergarth Parish, Dumfriesshire. Alexander was born in approx. 1825 and died before 1881. - William Lorimer, born 5 October 1832 (?) at Auchensaw farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland & baptized 7 November 1832 ["1832 Novr. 7 William, Lawful Son to William Lorimer & Jean Wightman, Auchensow, baptized this day, born 5th (?) Octr. last (probably means last month)"]. He must have died Between 1836 - 1841 at Auchensaw farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland because the William Lorimer listed on the 1851 census was 10 years old. - Elizabeth Wallace Lorimer, born 16 April 1834 (?) at Auchensow farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland & baptized 8 May 1834 ["1834 (?) April 16 Elizabeth, Lawful Daughter to William Lorimer and Jean Wightman, Auchensow, was born this day and baptized 8th May following (probably means following month)"]; died 1898 in Ayr, Ayrshire, Scotland. She married Robert Morris Beveridge in June 1856 in Old Cumnock. He was born in approx. 1834 in Dunfermline, Fifeshire, Scotland. They lived in Old Cumnock Parish, Ayrshire. - Alexander Lorimer, born 12 July 1836 in Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland ["1836 July 12 Alexander, Lawful Son to William Lorimer and Jean Wightman was born this day at Auchensow"]; died 12 July 1909 on Isle of Wight, England. He married Jane Elizabeth Sansom 15 March 1864. She was born approx. 1843. - Janet Lorimer, born 8 May (?) 1839 in Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland & baptized 30 May 1839 ["1839 May (?) 30 Janet, Lawful Daughter to William Lorimer and Jean Wightman, Auchensow, baptized this day, born 8th curt. (probably means current month)"]; died 22 December 1922 in Orleans, Harlan County, Nebraska, USA. She married James McGeachin on 5 June 1879 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was born 14 February 1848 in Old Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland; died 29 July 1913 in Orleans, Harlan, Nebraska. - William Lorimer, born approximately 1841 at Auchensaw Farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He married Janet (born approximately 1845 in Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland?). - John Lorimer, born 8 Sep 1845 at Auchensaw farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland; died 2 January 1912 in Willis, Brown County, Kansas. He immigrated to the United States in 1866 and settled in Kansas. He married (1) Mary A Baker or Law (born approximately 1848) on 20 Jun 1869. He married (2) Julia Yose (born Abt. 1850) on 10 October 1883. He married (3) Mary Louise Kinder (born 8 November 1858 in Smithville, Illinois; died 3 March, 1943) on 1 December 1891. He had 6 children. - Thomas Oliver Lorimer, born 7 August 1846 at Auchensaw farm, Sanquhar Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland; died 3 June 1928 in Los Angeles, California. He married Ann E. Proctor (born approximately 1850) on 23 Feb 1877. He is buried in Inglewood Cemetery, Los Angeles County, California. I have old photos I am trying to identify and am willing to share.
