Robert (son of William Lorimer and his wife, Jean Wightman) was born in approximately 1829 - 1831 in Dumfriesshire, Scotland and died November 6, 1895 in England. His name is recorded on his parent's headstone in Sanquhar Churchyard. His age was recorded as 67, which would mean he was born in approximately 1828. He married Margaret Douglas in approximately 1849 in Scotland. Margaret was born in approximately 1828 in Penpont Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Margaret was listed on the 1851 census at Stepends, Penpont Parish, Dumfriesshire in the home of her Aunt, Margaret Cowan. With her was her son, Robert Lorimer, age 9 months, born in Penpont Parish. On the 1881 census Robert, Margaret, and their children are listed at 59 Fore Street, Totnes, Devonshire, England as follows: Robert Lorimer, Head of house, married, age 51, occupati! on: Draper, born: Kirkconnel Parish, Dumfries County, Scotland; Margaret Lorimer, wife, married, age 53, born: Penpont Parish, Dumfries County, Scotland; Robert Lorimer, son, unmarried, age 30, occupation: Draper, born Penpont Parish, Dumfries County, Scotland; Jane Lorimer, daughter, unmarried, age 22, no occupation, born Totnes, Devonshire. The children of Robert Lorimer and his wife, Margaret Douglas were: - Robert Cowan Lorimer, born June 5, 1850 at Step Ends, Penpont Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. - William Lorimer, born approximately 1855 in Totnes, Devonshire, England. On the 1881 census he was listed as a boarder in the home of Mary Blatchford, at 39 Parr Street, Exeter, St. Sidwell, Devonshire, England. He was 26 and was unmarried. - Jane Lorimer, born approximately 1859 in Totnes, Devonshire, England.
