I have excerpts from the Emmitt Starr "History of the Cherokee Indians, Old Families and Their Genealogies"; and it lists 3 or 4 Looneys. Sherian Fields married Ghi-yo-nu Looney; David Rattlinggourd married Eliza Abigail Looney; One of Stand Waite's wives was Eleanor Looney. He commanded the Cherokee regiments in the Civil War and was the last Confederate General to surrender. He only signed a 'cease fire' rather than a surrender, creating a reason that some 'Southern Cherokee' to this day say they are at war, technically, with the United States government. Are any of these 'Looney's' listed in anyone's genealogies? curious. It might be they are only found in Cherokee documents. thank you! vance hawkins
