This 97-yr old woman recently died in Independence, Jackson County, MO. She was the daughter of William Standford Looney and Nettie Utley. Her daughter, Marsha Bergman, told me that she was from the line of Looneys who settled in Greene Co, MO. I think they were from the Looneys of Jackson County, Alabama..... From the INDEPENDENCE (MO) EXAMINER, Monday, February 23, 2004: BULA NOLAND Bula Byrom Noland, 97, Independence, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 2004, at her home. Mrs. Noland was born Nov. 10, 1906, in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, to William Stanford and Nettie (Utley) Looney. She lived most of her life in Kansas City and Independence. She was primarily a homemaker and also served in the Foster Grandparent Program in Independence for many years. She was a longtime member of the Blue Summit Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husbands Roy Byrom and John P. Noland; sons, Robert Byrom and Joe D. Noland; and stepchildren, Homer Noland, Gordon Noland, Joe Noland, and Hazel Lucas. Her survivors include two sons, James Byrom, Long Beach California, and Charles Byrom, Kansas City, MO; five daughters, Donna Brown, Odessa (MO), Lyla Gann, Sibley, MO; Glenda Smallwood, Barbara Carson and Marsha Bergman, all of Independence, MO; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at D. W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence (MO). Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Bates City, MO. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the chapel. The family suggests contributrions to Blue Summit baptist Church, 1700 Bryan, Kansas City, MO 64126.
