I'm not sure this is the same one but my grandfather was Joseph Allen Looney born in Mo died 1939 in Woodruff Co. AR. His father was Joseph A Looney born abour 1840 in Tennessee, died 1897 in Bollinger Co. MO. My mother was Cleo Sue Looney Kyle born 1919 in Woodruff Co. AR , died 1993 Lee Co. You are correct, not the same one. It is interesting how names were so common in about the same generations of the Looneys. Thanks for the information. Good luck on your searches. Robert's family isn't the only LOONEYs out there! > And, other Manx LOONEYs who came later than Robert are on our list! > > ==== LOONEY Mailing List ==== Was "John" Robert's father? or brother? Was Robert's wife Elizabeth? Was she a Stover or Llewellen? Was John's wife also a Llewellen (did sisters marry brothers?)? How many of Robert's siblings and neices/nephews came to America, too? Help us solve these mysteries today on the LOONEY list.
Do you know Norman Looney of Texas? He is also a descendant of the Adam Looney line that came to Texas and he has done a lot of research on the family you speak of. He was also writing a book on the Adam Looney line. Norman had the "Pleas David Looney" that you mention listed as "David Pleas Looney" or David P. Looney, but at one point I believe he told me that there were no records that actually showed the "Pleas" as being part of his name. You do know that David was married more than once and had children by both wives don't you? Some stayed in the New Boston, Texas area, others scattered into west Texas. Are you just looking for burial sites or what kind of information are you looking for? You might also want to stop using the John (1) reference, there is no proof of it, only speculation. Robert Looney is the first Looney documented in America and there is no record or proof of exactly where he came from, how he got here or who his parents were.
