    1. Re: Looney Surname DNA Project
    2. Dear Listers, We are so excited about this opportunity. Husband, Bill Fry, cannot directly participate but we did know a Looney that fits into the Jonathan/Jane Harbison Looney line at Bill's connection that is willing to participate. He is going to provide the DNA and we are paying for the kit. I encourage others to share the cost of your lines, if necessary, especially if you lack a direct male line but know someone in your line that does carry the Looney name who is willing to provide the DNA. We are hoping once and for all to find out whether those that claim this Jonathan/Jane lineage are actually connecting to the right Looney. I have always had my doubts so if it proves to be true - I will shut up. :) I would be so glad to find this is the correct connection!! We are hoping the results will save all of us researching this line a lot of library time which so far has produced less than zilch in positive proof. Others are probably having similar brick walls that the DNA project might give a leg up on the research. I would encourage as many as can to participate in this DNA project. It will not impact any other DNA questions, no medical, etc., just "which line do you come from". Thanks to the organizers for getting on this for all of us. What line do you descend from? I certainly hope that you will consider joining the project. Please feel free to ask me any additional questions that you may have. One last point, if you (or a male relative) decide to join, you can get an additional $30 off the cost of the DNA analysis by going to the homepage of FamilyTreeDNA (www.familytreedna.com), and clicking on and printing out the $30 gift certificate (which expires at the end of December) to include with your invoice (which is sent with the test kit, if you opt for an invoice.)
