Benne, Moses Looney (b SEE_DATE_NOTE_BELOW 1780, Maury, TN; d. 9 Jan 1855, Lawrence, AL) was the fourth son (and fourth child) of Captain John Looney Sr. (b. 1741/1743, Looney's Creek, Augusta Co., VA; d. 1819, Warren,Co., TN) and Elizabeth Renfro (sometimes seen Rentfro), b1740/1744, Botetourt Co., VA, d. ?, Warren Co., TN) Capt. John Looney Sr. and Elizabeth Renfro are my 5th great grandparents. I descended from Moses' brother John Looney, Jr (b. abt 1771, Maury Co., TN; d. before 9 Feb 1827 in Mobile, Mobile Co., AL) DATE_NOTE: You have Moses birthday as August 6, 1780 while I have his birthdate as June 8, 1780. This looks like an instance of date format ambiguity. The date written 6/8/1780 means June 8 in USA and Aug 6 for most of the rest of the world! Why I refuse to use that date format! I believe my date is correct, but it only comes from one source, without hard provenance. Can anyone else out there confirm which is right? I have lots of information on descendants of Capt John Looney -- as do many others on this board. Do you have additional information on Mary Guess (I have no dates for her)?
