    1. Re: [LOONEY-L] New Looney Subscriber
    2. A>>> Mike, You and I are related in two different ways: (1). Michael Looney and Jimmy Darrel Cain are 7th cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Robert Looney Sr. and Elizabeth Llewellyn. That's WAY back there. (see further comments below) (2). Michael Looney and Jimmy Darrel Cain are 6th cousins 1 time removed. Their common ancestors are Hugh Quin Sr. and Margaret Fondren. Joseph Allen's father Peter David (David) Looney was son of Robert Looney Sr and Mary Elizabeth Quinn (daughter of Hugh Quinn Sr. and Margaret Fondren.) Mary Ellizabeth Quinn was the sister of John Quinn, my fifth great grandfather. The note in your message "I am OK", does that mean you were born in Oklahoma? You said you had burial information on all "burial sites back to Howell Runnels" -- would you mind sending me that information (in any format you like). Looking back from there, I don't have anything on Joseph Allen Looney other than two other children (son Robert David and dau Mahala Rebecca), but do have a bit of information on deaths (and possible burial sites of some of his ancestors). I saw that Larry Johnson's message of 14 April about David's complete name. Apparently Norman Looney (another descendant of that line) has questions whether his have was Pease David Looney or David Pease Looney, etc. I know that Paul Sarratt, Jr.s' database ( http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=prsjr&id=I544) carries his name as Peter David (David) Looney. and has birth and death dates. Per Paul, Joseph Allen Looney's father David Looney died at Red River, Miller Co.[now Bowie Co.],Tx in Sept 1861. Neither I nor Paul have any data on David's wife. Paul lists no children for David, but I have gleaned a very little: from the appendix in the Crane/Looney book Lineages of (Norman Looney, p.375) & (Brownilee P. Boyd, p378) and now Mike Looney's Email of 12 April 2004 to LOONEY-L) all descended from Robert's son David and (Sarah Beth Barkman, p381) descended from Robert's dau Saline Looney Barkman. Thus four lines with primary Looney lineage names only. Am looking for more <grin>. . [Norman Looney, Brownilee P. Bowd and Sarah Beth Barkman's lineages as listed in the Crane/Looney book appendix simply shows his name as "David." ] Per my records (from Paul Sarratt, Jr. confirmed by one other source), David's father Robert Looney died on 22 October 1824 at Tugaloo River, Pendleton Dist.,SC. David's mother Mary Elizabeth (Betsy) Quinn died 10 Oct 1820 at same location. FYI, I did note a discrepancy on Robert's birthdate. Paul Sarratt ( http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=prsjr& id=I348) carries it as 4 Mar 1779, whereas Wilene Smith ( http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=caldwellwilene&id=I0191) gives 7 March 1777 or 1778. Both give the same deathdate. Wilene's dbase has MUCH less detail (and no family data whereas Paul's if full of such information and sources, giving me more confidence in Paul's dates. Can anyone confirm Robert's birthdate? I understand that Robert's father Adam (b.1724/1725, Isle of Man) died 4 July 1770 at Tryon, Craven Co., NC (but I have no burial information) Before that has been well researched by many on this LOONEY-LIST. B>>> Judi, Do you have anything on the parents of your Joseph A. Looney (b. about 1840 in TN) Since Peter/Peas David (David) Looney was b. 1795 in SC and d. 1861 in TX, I am curious if your Joseph A. Looney (b. about 1840, TN) was perhaps his son or his grandson. Fifty-five (55) is a bit old for fatherhood but certainly biologically possible; however, it's also possible there is another generation in there? (or he there could be a lineage altogether.) Can you (or anyone) help close this loop (see Judi's email below)? Thanks to all for this great research group!
