I've combined data from a couple of messages sent earlier to this group by CSLooney. I believe the Joseph Looney noted in the following data to be Joseph McMinn Looney, said to be born 1808 Stanley Valley, Hawkins Co., Tenn., son of Absalom Looney (d. 1858 Sparta, Bienbille Parish, LA) and Nancy Long, grandson to Benjamin Looney and Mary Johnson, great grandson to Robert Looney Jr. and Margaret Rhea. My record shows Joseph M. Looney to be married twice. First marriage to Amanda Hickey with children: Robert W. (b. 1826) John S. (b. 1831) David A. (b. 1833) Hugh C. (b. 1835) Emaline (b. 1837) Amanda (b. 1842) James K. (b. 1846) Second marriage to Delaney Evans with one child: Delaney Evans Looney To complicate (or should I say simplify) this relationship farther, Absalom Looney, father to this Joseph M. Looney, was also married twice. First to Nancy Long and second to Eleanor Wilson. He had children by both wives, one being Robert Johnson Looney (b. 1823) by the second. Absalom and several of these children were known to be in Louisiana.
