Bettye, This is a hard question to answer because it all depends on what you need and if the site has what you need. Most of your work is still going to be done in libraries, court houses and looking at microfilm from the Family History Centers not to mention other field word like cemeteries. Rootsweb and familysearch will give you a lot of free information. Watch ancestry.com for their free databases. They run different ones free at different times. You can work for a long time with free sites before you use all their resources. Good luck with your searching.
