There seems to be more than one spelling of the name. Robert Looney's will had his name spelled "Looney" and "Luney" within the same document. The name was spelled both ways in the Augusta County, Va. court records too. It is to bad no one has found actual documents of when they came to America and where they came from. At this point, the origin (which varies) of our Looney family is based on family lore.
