You will find this rumor to be kind of true. I say kind of because it sounds like two different families are getting mixed up. John Warren Looney of the Absalom (2) line is said to have purchased land on both sides of the San Antonio River in Goliad, Victoria and Refugio Counties of Texas. John is said to have died near Nachodoces, Tx while transporting his family from Ala. to his lands near Goliad, Tx. I do not show John as having a son named Joseph. The Joseph you speak of was possibly Joseph F. Looney b. 25 Sep 1858 d. 28 Sep 1887. Joseph's father was John Robert Looney b. 5 Dec 1824 in S.C. and died 3 Sep 1881, Nacodoces, TX. John R. Looney married Susan Catherine Baxter. John (5) was a descendant of Joseph (4), Robert (3), Adam (2) Looney. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 09, 2000 11:24 PM Subject: [LOONEY-L] Looney Rumor > A cousin of mine has another rumor I'd like to check out. > > Another Looney Rumor: > Joseph's father died in the Nacogdoches area when he and family were on their > way to Goliad. the family continued on....he owned lots of land in that > area....... > > Any clues? > > Bettye Looney Bowerman > > > ==== LOONEY Mailing List ==== > Were there 12 brothers that arrived in Boston from Ireland in the 1850s? > Help us find them.
