Below is a query concerning a LOONEY/GEISLER connection in TN abt 1818. Don't think she's part of our list, so pls send responses to her directly. Thanks, ///Steve Looney/// ============================================ From: [email protected] Hello, Maybe you can answer a question I have regarding a Joseph Looney of Sullivan Co., TN. I am wondering if there was any relationship to my Geisler/Giesler family who lived there from about 1815 forward. Joseph Looney was named the co-administrator (along with Adam's son John Geisler Sr.) on the will of Adam Geisler written in 1818 and letters of Admin filed 1821 in Sullivan Co. The Sullivan Co., TN copy was burned, however, another copy admitted for probate in Adams Co., PA where the Geisler family came from and still owed money for a farm there. The Adams Co., PA court records show this estate settlement stretched into 1844 when it was decided that the farm was lost to back taxes and owed money from the former sale not recoverable. Do you know of any relationship of Looney to Geisler, or was he just a lawyer involved in the administration of this estate? John Geisler Sr. had moved to Maries Co., Missouri by 1837 and died intestate (suddenly?) in 1846. We wonder if he had traveled to PA to settle his father's estate there and died on the way to or from the reason he left no will and left his heirs to then struggle through the courts dividing his estate. Anyway, just always looking for reasons and the Looney involvement always has been a question unanswered. Pamela Geisler Smith Gresham, OR
