    3. The following notice was transcribed 7 Sept. 1997, by a GGG-Grandson, Larry W Johnson, of Moses and Mary (Guest) Looney. This notice was posted in the Moulton Democrat following the July Term of the Lawrence County Probate Court. The article has been transcribed with the exact spellings contained in the published newspaper article. (Note: spelling of Noxuba Co., Miss. should be Neshoba) This article is interesting from the point that it not only names the living descendants of Moses and Mary Looney, but also states the last place of their known residence. THE STATE OF ALABAMA, Lawrence County, S.S. Probate Court, July Term, 1855. Thos. Sparks Adm'r of Moses Looney, deceased. VS. Moses Looney's Heirs. Petition to sell slave. CAME the plaintiff as Administrator of Moses Looney, Deceased, and filed his petition under oath, for the sale of a certain slave therein set forth for distribution, belonging to the Estate of said decedent, to wit: a slave sixty-two years old. Petitioner alleges that said slave cannot be equally, fairly and beneficially divided among the heirs and distributees of deceased' without a sale thereof, to wit: Mary Looney, widow of deceased, who owns a separate Estate over and above a destributive share of said Estate, John Looney, of full age, who resides in Lawrence county, Alabama; Moses Looney, of full age, and who resides in Carroll Parish, Louisiana; Elizabeth Brown, who intermarried with one Isaac Brown, and resides in Walker county, Alabama; Martin Looney, of full age, and who resides in Noxuba county, Miss.; Lydia Ann McDaniel, who intermarried with one James McDaniel, and who resides in Monroe county, Miss.; Sally Wiley, who intermarried with one William Wiley, and who resides in Noxuba, county, Miss.; George W. Looney, of full age, and who resides in Noxuba county, Miss.; William Looney, of full age, and who resides in Lawrence county, Alabama; Mary Bruce, who intermarried with one Spartin H. Bruce, and resides in Lawrence county, Alabama; Anderson Looney, of full age, and who resides in Noxuba county, Miss.; Matilda Garrett, who intermarried with one John Garrett, residence unknown, and James Looney, minor son of Joseph Looney, whose residence is unknown to Petitioner. Petitioner prays all necessary orders, &c. It is therefore ordered that the 2d Monday in September next, be set for the hearing and determining of said petition; that citations issue to all of said heirs who reside within the jurisdiction of said Court, and that publication be made in the Moulton Democrat, for forty days, a newspaper published in the town of Moulton, requiring all persons interested in said petition, to appear and contest if they choose, and that William H. Salmon be appointed Guardian ad liten of said minor heir, to guard his interest on the final hearing of said Petition, and that the same be make known to him. TESTE: H. A. McGHEE, P. J.
