My Joseph was married to Mary Jane Sample January 24, 1873 or 74 in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. They moved to Appleby, Nacogdoches County, Texas between 1884 and 1888. There were 10 children - William Robert 10/27/1874, Haywood A. 3/8/1876, John Clinton 2/16/1878, Joe Shelby 1/27/1880, Creola Roberta 8/31/1882, Ishum Henry 3/22/1884, Oscar C. 2/9/1886, Grover Cleveland 10/7/1888, James S 5/17/1891, Benjamin F 8/4/1894. Joseph is buried at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby, Nacogdoches County, Texas. He died June 8, 1906. I have a feeling that Joe's father could be John Clinton Looney. Some of Joe's records show his father as John W and John C. Since one of his children was John Clinton I have a strong feeling that was his fathers name. Bettye Looney Bowerman
