    1. Evacuation from New Orleans
    2. Hi List Members: Since I have corresponded with many of you, I thought you might want to know that my husband (Stephen Looney) and I evacuated last Sunday from New Orleans to Baton Rouge, the day before the storm. We took our dog, 2 cats, a suitcase each, and a friend with her cat. We stayed in Baton Rouge with friends long enough to get the other evacuee on a plane to California, then came to stay with relatives in Georgia. We don't know the state of our house except it is surrounded by water on the satellite pictures. We assume that at least the first floor is lost. All my genealogy was on the second floor, so I hope all my research has survived. We consider we are the lucky ones. We are safe and we had a place to go. Teresa McVeigh New Orleans Refugee

    3. >Thank God you are safe. Just hope home isn't such that you can't restore it. Although I have not corresponded with you I have followed your work for many years. I too am a Looney living in AR where William and Rhoda Stubblefield Looney settled. they are my 3rd g-grandparents. Hope you can return to your home soon.
