Mary, Actually the Republican Party was not founded until 1854, a year after Elisha left Tennessee. As for being disinherited, there appears to have been severe discord between Elisha's father, James, and a number of his children. As relating to relatives serving in the CSA, there were at least seven Tennessee Lunas who served, at least two of whom were killed in battle. These would have been nephews and cousins of Elisha.
