    3. Hello all, I am hoping someone (besides myself) with 1861 census access could have a go at looking for a family for me. I have tried every which way I can with no success. The family name is FINN. children are, according to marriages I have found, all show father as James Finn (occ: Mason) deceased (except on Daniels') Margaret @ 1853 married 1876 St Saviour, Battersea Samuel Arnold Thomas @ 1851 married 1877 St John the Evangelist, Walworth Hannah Clithero Daniel @1855 married 1878 St Mary, Bryanston Square Charlotte Rickwood Kate @1858 married 1884 Christ Church, Chelsea Robert Barns Henry @1858 married 1887 St John the Evangelist, Walworth Sarah Ann Taylor I believe James himself may have died age 32 in 1866 in Chelsea but thinking the family should be on 1861. I am not sure of the mothers (wifes') name. On the 1881 census for Thomas and Hannah Finn it shows he was born Walworth Surrey, on 1891 it shows he was born Camberwell London Thanks all, any help appreciated Jackie (Canada)

    3. Hi Jackie, I cannot find them in 1861. More information might help. Such as 1871 census results, children's birthplaces and/or mother's name. I have looked on 1871 and found some quite possibles but none of the family together. The trouble with birthplaces is they change between London and Middlesex or Surrey and that can make searching more difficult. So possibly mother's name might be the best way to proceed and for that you need the birth certificate of one of the children. It might be best to pick the one for whom you are most sure you have the correct reference. I did find one quite possible entry for Thomas PHINN in 1871. I did try searching without a surname for some of the children but it was a bit like searching for a needle in a haystack. Good luck Christine -----Original Message----- From: Jackie Serna via Sent: Wednesday, October 22, 2014 9:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [LON] 1861 census assistance FINN Hello all, I am hoping someone (besides myself) with 1861 census access could have a go at looking for a family for me. 3. Thank you Christine and Alan for taking the time to look. Unfortunately I do not know the mothers (wifes) name without ordering a cert and was hoping with at least 5 childrens' names to be able to find them on the 1861 and go from there. Yes Alan being born and raised in Canada I am aware that the county names changed frequently and within close proximity of each other could be registered in various places. Yes very hard to try and be a FINN and figure out where I would hide on a census lol. I am sure it is spelt somehow fabulously but thank you for your suggestion. Thanks again all Jackie (Canada) Christine Benson wrote: > Hi Jackie, > > I cannot find them in 1861. More information might help.
