I’m sorry I have been away…was sick over Christmas and am just now feeling back to normal. The news about the mail lists is very sad, but I think the lists should go on in some format, somewhere. I have also heard there are many writing to Rootsweb asking that they keep the lists going, so that’s an option. If someone would like to keep the list going somewhere else that’s perfectly fine with me and I would be happy to help any way I can. I admin over 1,000 lists at Rootsweb and I am now trying to get as many moved as I possibly can…so if someone on a list, especially an active one, steps forward and wants to keep the list going I’m going to support them! I'm sorry you have been poorly Dee and glad to hear you are now fit. To be admin for over a 1000 lists at Rootsweb, you will need to be! Whilst the timing for you could not have been much worse, your absence over this period may have been fortuitous as it turns out. I say this as with the plug pulled on the Rootsweb pages there has been a furore of activity in the several lists I subscribe to and already one group is closing as there was no communication with other list admin and it was discovered that their was already a group set up covering the same area. I have now no doubt that there will be many duplications and having just done a quick search on groups.io I found that there is already a Greater London group set up by David Banks. If you have 1000 lists, you may wish to look to see if there are any already listed on Groups.io before trying to catch up:-) Cheers Berry
