Hi Listers, I have found a James Laport being insured in Drury Lane in 1781 as says occupation “Gent” then I also found a John Laport being made apprentice and mentions his father James Laport deceased but being a button maker. Could it be the same person ? Would you call a buttonmaker a gent ? thanks, Maureen in Oz.
