I have been researching my G.Grandfather,William Alexander CROSSEN for many years .The little I have largely relates to his son of the same name and derives from the son's Marriage. Cert.15 Jan.1898,in Wellington,NZ.which records him as ,blacksmith, aged 24.bn. London and parents William Alexander CROSSEN and Julia Anna BLOWMAN.According to deceased family members,William(senior) met his wife(?) Julia Anna BLOWMAN whilst traveling for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. in Russia( I have a researcher in USA checking Singer records for the father-to date nothing found and cost of same may bring it to a halt ). The son's life in NZ has been thoroughly researched and yields little info.on the parents.. He was said to be the black sheep of the family and my grandmother divorced him in 1921 in NZ. My G.Grandfather had a daughter as well as the son, and 2 photos(see Links) show her and her husband and their daughter in their car,in front of their house, in one photo and in the other photo the daughter(i.e. my grandfather's niece) is shown again with her 2 sons in the same house on the Thames River.Names are not known.A sign on the gate (partially obscured reads... ulverton.Photo of car taken sometime after 1919 when Type A Citroen was first manufactured.Consensus is the photo was taken late 1820's to early1830'sDetails of the sister's name, birth, marriage and family are not known and all I have are the 2 photos as in the 2 drop box links: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/wbdioizksrl5xqa/AABpC1tBMJqhQHCF8DUT3khja & https://www.dropbox.com/sc/lztrvatuslko1ge/AACM4Roq2tH6cxvPvJ2E6kV0a ...Photos came from an aunt, long deceased. Guessing their ages I came up with: Older son =14years His mother = 45 years Her mother= 65 to 70 years. Assuming the photo was taken about c1930, the mother(sister of my grandfather and the older lady in the car) would have been born 1860 to 1865.I would value more opinions as to the ages of the people in the car and/or when the photo was taken. I have used Ancestry,Family Search, free BMD etc for checking on the Census's etc.but no luck.I have also used many variants of Crossen and also McCrossen and Crosby, the latter apparently is the English version of Crossen. I also purchased a number of GRO Birth/Marriage Certificates for a female Crossen but the correct parents not found.I also featured the photos in two English Genealogy Magazines in the hope that some one would recognize the family. In asking for help from the list,I realize there is so little to work on but hopefully some one may have suggestions as to further research and guestimates as to ages of the people in the pics. Please contact me with any queries Thanks in anticipation. Trev. Valler. NZ --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. http://www.avast.com
