Whilst looking for an ancestor of mine in the 1861 census I came across 'nurse child' as a description in the relative column. This child, Ann Hockings, was 10 at the time, and also described as a scholar, her two sisters were there as well, also described as 'nurse child'. Has anybody come across this before. The census was for registration district Chelsea, chelsea north west, ed 15 , household 198, piece 35, folio 35, page 29, (Ann was not my relative after all, but just interested).
