    3. Hi Eve, As far as I know the only 2 tests available to you are mtDNA (maternal line) and Autosomal (Family Finder). The second is the only one at all useful to you for what you want. But it is very hit and miss. You might be lucky and find a first paternal cousin has also tested. But the chances are you will end up with a list of names which you cannot connect to you. That is my situation at present. However, DNA tests are becoming more popular and as they do it will be easier to match. Also, if you could get a maternal relative (not sibling) to test then any matches you both share are highly unlikely to have anything to do with your paternal line. You will get your ethnic mix with this test (at least with the firm I tested with). But I know of no easy answer. I have my Fathers Maternal line back to 1480 but I have no idea who my Grandfather was, which leaves a whole section of my Tree blank. I have searched all the records available but "Father unknown" on my Fathers BC seems to be the "end" unless DNA can show origins, not much but better than nothing. Thank you for any information Eve Ferguson
